Snoop Doggy Dogg went from being feared gangsta rapper to Snoop Dogg hanging with Martha Stewart and hosting the Paris Olympics. Musically, while he struggled to find himself after Doggystyle, he was hit and miss, but hit his stride when linking with The Neptunes.

Kanye West went from basement producer to super producer to iconic Hip Hop superstar. Watching him go from the Talib Kweli/Mos Def/Def Poetry lane to the Jay Z/Wayne level was something else.

OutKast reinventing themselves with each album. 1994-2004 OutKast was really something to see.

Nas is the same deal. Nas was reinventing himself a lot as well. There was a huge transition from Illmatic to It Was Written. Then to go from the I Am/Nastradamus phase to the Stillmatic/Lost Tapes/God's Son era to the more experimental Street's Disciple/Hip Hop Is Dead/Untitled/Distant Relatives era to Life Is Good to Nasir/Lost Tapes 2 to the 6 albums with Hitboy is CRAZY.

Missy Elliott is another one who reinvented herself with each album.

WORST

Puff- he was onto something with No Way Out. The team of Mase, The Lox, Biggie, Black Rob, and Lil' Kim hid his weaknesses as an artist. When he dropped Forever, all of his weaknesses were exposed because only Lil' Kim was featured and while that album had a crazy guest lineup, Puff was in the forefront. It was never the same after that no matter how many times he changed his name.

Lucy Pearl was Ali Shaheed. Tip had nothing to do with that. And it's funny you bring up Tip because I've often had this conversation with people. Tip released his debut solo album and wanted to crossover. I received the album free because the Motor Pool MSG in my unit bought it, didn't like it and gave it to me. He said it was trash. . I still have that CD to this day and I don't like it too much either. About a year later, Phife drops his debut independently and it sounds like what I expected Tip's album to sound. Lucy Pearl was an r&b showcase of Tribe/Toni tony tone/Envogue collaborators and it was dope too. Tip was in that phase when some artists were trying to be eccentric like Andre 3k, a year or 2 later Common.
Yes, thanks for correcting me..it was Ali shaheed!!
Damn Tip..you fell the fukk off Son.

Best:

50 Cent?

RZA from we love you rakeem to RZA

Mobb Deep from juvenile hell to The Infamous.

Dre on Wreckin Cru to NWA to The Chronic to 2001

Three 6 Mafia evolved over the years and each stage was incredibly dope

Cam'ron confessions of fire to dip set era

Jay Z from that jiggy Jay wiggitty way trash to RD

Worst to me is BCC once they dropped beatminerz

Smif n wessun to cocoa brovaz

Really, all the post 96 BCC stuff to me is nearly unlistenable and to me the first 4 releases from 93-96 are all classics
