Lucy Pearl was Ali Shaheed. Tip had nothing to do with that. And it's funny you bring up Tip because I've often had this conversation with people. Tip released his debut solo album and wanted to crossover. I received the album free because the Motor Pool MSG in my unit bought it, didn't like it and gave it to me. He said it was trash. . I still have that CD to this day and I don't like it too much either. About a year later, Phife drops his debut independently and it sounds like what I expected Tip's album to sound. Lucy Pearl was an r&b showcase of Tribe/Toni tony tone/Envogue collaborators and it was dope too. Tip was in that phase when some artists were trying to be eccentric like Andre 3k, a year or 2 later Common.
