Now you know Al is my favorite producer Darc but I lived in the golden era and I’ve been going back to the first five years of the Wu and I vividly remember him and premo set a vet high standard that very few touched including Hav. I get you best believe it but I just can’t rank Al higher than a few other producers and he basically the Lebron James of producing with the longevity
I’m not saying you gotta rank him higher. I get your point. It’s a fair one. He’s in my top 5.

My main point is that in 1993-1997 it was objectively easier to make fake changing and pioneer groundbreaking level shyt like what RZA was doing. 30 years later almost every sound and style has been done.

It’s so much harder to break new ground in 2022. Madlib and Alc are doing about a good job as any producer can do.

No doubt I just have a hard time ranking him in my mind when I heard soo much shyt. I’ve been defending Al for 20 years when my older brothers and uncles discuss hip hop so I know Al is hands down the best producer the past 15 years that’s not even a debate to me

I was just saying he needs that album all done by him he even said it himself so I know I’m not crazy

I think the best songs on GDMM are better “songs”. But I can play TT4 all the way through without wanting to skip anything. A few of the features and some production on the first half of GDMM I don’t love. And the lack of samples stands out more when I hear this.

GDMM was a major label release so a bit more watered down. When Benny drops his Def Jam album I'm sure it'll have the same issues especially with the features.

Why should they admit something that they don’t agree with …. It’s cool u think he’s boring

me personally I like gangsta rap over sample beats …. shyt never gets old to me
Plenty of alternatives within the same vein that are better, imo. AZ. Styles. Ransom. Spesh. Gibbs (although I think he’s corny). I can name other mcs within the gangsta rap genre whose music is actually creative and deep.

I just don’t think he’s a good writer, and that’s becoming more obvious the more prolific his output is.
