I agree, especially watching the Director's Cut version, too much stuff was cut of the theatrical version and the plot suffered a lot as a result
Daredevil felt like a rushed project.

I remember when I went to see it in theaters, me and the other 4 people in there started falling asleep

I wont be so quick to judge and I'll bookmark this thread for now and come back in a few years.
*remembers the SOHH thread when Ledger was cast as the Joker*

I thought they were going to go for an unknown. I'll reserve judgement. At least wait and see how he looks in a costume :patrice:

I hope they hit a homerun with whomever they cast for Lex Luthor :lupe:

:pachaha:

But I'm hoping Affleck knocks it out of the park. I'm on his side here. I want to see him succeed. He came back from a lot of shyt to becoming one of the most respected actors and directors in Hollywood. I'd just love to look back on this and be like "Hmmm. I was right." :obama:

I aint getting that worked up about it...I personally think Affleck should stick to directing cause hes much better at it than acting. On the other hand Batman ain't a complex role like the joker where you have to put on a crazy performance. I think he'll do a serviceable job

Why do people keep mentioning shyt like The Town and Argo?

Ben Affleck DIRECTED those films. Zack Snyder is the one directing Superman/Batman.

When has Zack Snyder ever shown himself to be capable of bringing the best ouf ot Average actors? In Man of Steel he wasn't even able to get the best out of Michael Shannon.

Ben Affleck is a GREAT director, Ben Affleck is a GREAT writer. As an Actor Ben Affleck isn't all that great. He's good most of the time, has occasionally been VERY good, and has been downright horrible quite a few times. I Don't think it's a coincidence that his best performances are typically in films he's written and directed.,

Obviously some people are going overboard with the hate, but people are also going overboard in defending a obviously questionable casting decision.

Ben Affleck was hired to ACT in these films, not direct or write the screenplays. There were a ton of FAR superior actors they could have chosen for the role.

Those two examples of being "damned to hell" is quite the exaggeration. Everyone agreed Hugh Jackman had the look...the problem was he was too tall. I heard less chatter about Daniel Craig because it was complete revamp of James Bond to begin with

Wasn't old enough to know about the Keaton shyt, but nobody gave :what: faces with RDJ that I can remember. I'm pretty sure most ppl felt that it was PERFECT casting. Everyone remembers the Heath Ledger uncertainty but that clearly died down once images leaked.

You guys seem to be comparing shyt just for the sake of comparison...completely missing a few points. 1) We've already seen Affleck in a superhero movie that turned out to be terrible (Daredevil), 2) being a good actor is only part of a good casting choice as a) they can't make Affleck a convincing Bruce Wayne) and b) they can't make Affleck a convincing Batman.

Is there a possibility that the movie could be good? Sure....but they'd have to make some significant changes in order to make Affleck fit a role that doesn't really suit him imo

No one said anything about Hugh Jackman having "the look" of Wolverine because no one knew who the hell Hugh Jackman was and the pictures of him that existed at the time of his casting didn't scream "Wolverine!" at all especially considering he was damn near twice as tall as Wolverine was supposed to be. The primary talk was that he was a desperation choice because the original dude they cast (Dougray Scott) backed out in order to do the Mission Impossible sequel.

Daniel Craig got shytted on for being too blond, his eyes were blue, he was not conventionally attractive enough, he was too buff. Basically he didn't fit the established look that fandom had of James Bond.
And RDJ was a total :what: when he was cast because at the time RDJ was a 2nd tier actor who was looked at as a lot of wasted talent due to his battle with drugs. before getting Iron Man RDJ was playing nothing but supporting roles so it was that people hated the casting, everyone was just completely shocked. But because no one really was giving two shyts about Iron Man at the time the reaction was completely muted.

Affleck was not the problem with Daredevil. Take a look at the majority of reviews for the movie and most critics pointed to Afflecck as being one of the positives of the film. Daredevil suffered greatly from too much studio interference so that was was released to audiences was a crappy b*stardized version of what was intended for the movie.

And people really need to stop trying to act like Batman is this role for the ages like Othello or something. There has not been a truly great Batman performance from any of the dudes who played the part in the movies. The actors have all done well as Bruce Wayne to varying degrees but Batman has never been a role that has set the world on fire. So what exactly is being a convincing Batman? Because aside from George Clooney's hamming it up in that disaster he starred in Batman is not some difficult part to portray.

I don't remember anybody being upset in the least about RDJ being cast as Tony Stark. People were shocked but it was more of a pleasant surprise more than anything. Nobody EVER really considered him fro the role but once it was announced the overwhelming majority of people could definitely see it.

I agree no one was upset or mad but his casting was so out of left field that it def got a :what: from everybody.
