I remember the hate that Michael Keaton got when he was cast as Batman. Look how that turned out. I remember the hate Heath Ledger got when he was cast as Joker. Look how that turned out. There were quite a few :what:faces when RDJ was cast as Iron Man. Look how that turned out. Now could it go south? Yes. But over the last decade, Affleck has proven to be quite the accomplished actor and director. However, I will reserve judgement until I see the movie.

Funny you should say that as I thought it was brilliant. RDJ and Iron Man had identical stories.

It's funny to look back on stuff sometimes. I'm glad I always kept an open mind to things. Two other casting choices that were damned to hell before a single piece of footage was released: Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Daniel Craig as James Bond.

Those two examples of being "damned to hell" is quite the exaggeration. Everyone agreed Hugh Jackman had the look...the problem was he was too tall. I heard less chatter about Daniel Craig because it was complete revamp of James Bond to begin with

Wasn't old enough to know about the Keaton shyt, but nobody gave :what: faces with RDJ that I can remember. I'm pretty sure most ppl felt that it was PERFECT casting. Everyone remembers the Heath Ledger uncertainty but that clearly died down once images leaked.

You guys seem to be comparing shyt just for the sake of comparison...completely missing a few points. 1) We've already seen Affleck in a superhero movie that turned out to be terrible (Daredevil), 2) being a good actor is only part of a good casting choice as a) they can't make Affleck a convincing Bruce Wayne) and b) they can't make Affleck a convincing Batman.

Is there a possibility that the movie could be good? Sure....but they'd have to make some significant changes in order to make Affleck fit a role that doesn't really suit him imo

@josswhedon: Affleck'll crush it. He's got the chops, he's got the chin -- just needs the material. Affleck & Cavill toe to toe -- I'm in.

Can we get joss to help direct?

:leon:....I think its obvious they were trying to get they own version of Robert Downey,I guy who does serious acting but is also witty.....they'll probaly go for the kids with this one...MOS woulda been better had they made that decision, instead of making that shyt half dark and serious....just go all the way PG and cheese it up as long as its good:manny:

Don't see any other way to break the Noland comparisons and dudes wanting physcological thrillers in these dc movies.

Ben Affleck just got that Nicholas Cage thing goin where I expect him to be bad for some reason:heh:....maybe ill watch one of his newer flicks,I did wanna see The Town cuz the commercial looked good but I never got around to it...a good performance maybe will make me look at him differently before I see this movie, cuz be honest u gon see this shyt regardless:ufdup:

Don't remember homie being all that dynamic on the screen though:heh:...they needed sumbody with a lot of energy I think to counter the lack of energy Superman wuz givin off in mos movie, a swagged out playboy Batman is probaly in order here,a dark brooding batman like y'all talking will lead to boredom I think....brooding batman and no personality having Superman:what:

It's also stated the Christopher Nolan situation had a large hand in getting Ben Affleck for Batman. It's said Nolan offered Man of Steel to Affleck, which Affleck declined to direct. The report states Nolan had a large role in the Man of Steel with post-production as well as bringing Zack Snyder on board. Apparently, Snyder was the one who reached out to Affleck. It's also said with Nolan busy shooting Interstellar, that Affleck's talents as a director and actor will be beneficial on set (in our own report we were told WB loved Affleck's dedication as an actor and director).
