He could of thrived down south for sure. He killed that verse on the Khaled album with Kiss. I think it was Khaled first or 2nd album I can't recall.

:lupe: no one bringing up the part where Beans says Jay would always drop an album whenever he (Beans) dropped, and wouldn't give Beans album time to breathe?

or the rumor that Beans doesn't want to believe-- but is absolutely believable-- that the powers that be didn't want anyone to surpass Jay?

edit: my bad, wrong video. i was thinking about this:

Beans would have never surpassed Jay-z. Beans didn't have commercial singles to go mainstream. Beans was also too much in the streets, in & out of prison.

Jay-z had the perfect formula to make radio friendly songs to sell albums then linking up with Beyonce pushed his career to another level.

I don't believe those rumors that powers that be didn't want anyone to surpass Jay... Kanye was on the same label and was arguably a bigger star than Jay Z since 2004 was bigger than Jay for years until recently.

Jay Z didn't get his first number 1 billboard hit until 2009! Kanye already had three by that point.

Truth is, Dame always stuck with Beans.

After Beans got locked, Jay had people in his ear telling him to not stand to close to Mack. That it would be bad for his image. So when the court asked if he could vouch for Beans, and back him so they could release him, he said in court he couldn't do it. So they sent Beans back up. Beans never looked at Jay the same way again, after that.

Jay was willing to expand even if it meant cutting some ties…

If Beans had chilled out and stood under Jay and got as much game from him as he could, he would be behind a desk getting a free check

Exactly,Beans was already an established artist. I dont think we can even blame lack of promotion. Beans said it himself

"The B. Coming, that came out when I was incarcerated, too. It went gold with no promotion, nothing. I did seven videos in two days and only ..."

I was in the midwest at the time,in Kansas City. That album was suprisingly getting alot of love all on the strength of Feel It In The Air. And i dont think with Beanies style you can put him in the same box with other east coast rappers. He has a harder more aggressive style that in my experience can translate better outside of the east coast. Beans was established enough that a good project would sell near gold on word of mouth. Its like you said, that Solution album was just underwhelming . And i love Sigel and Kells but not only was that single ass and generic. It didnt give you high hopes for a masterpiece. Made me think Sigel might be going a more commerical route to maintain relevancy. And sorry, but Freeway not doing well wasnt suprising. Neither Jay or 50 is Quincy Jones. And Freeway is Jermaine Jackson at best, and Tito in the Rocafella collective as a whole. So as much as they tried to hype Jay and 50 collabing on it,nobody cared.

The b.coming on dame's label was actually the most promotion beans got. Dude had better video rotation and even a BET special. Plus the SP2 movie was out right before it. He's mad that he himself didn't get to promote the record. But that's neither here nor there frfr.

As for the solution, yea that album was weak, but truth be told, 90% of mainstream albums at that point, were trash.

There was no hype for that freeway album. Yoyr average dan didnt even know it dropped

Think the only time Sigel and Jay dropped within 90 days of each other was The Solution and American Gangster

Naw

The only time beans/jay didn't drop around the same time was "the b coming", and that was on dame's label.

Because they can co-exist. Most of Santa's fans aren't really interested I hio-hop like that. Kanye can sell a trillion records and Jay can be washed standing next to him, and still nobody will say Kanye us better.

Beans is a different story. Beans doesn't have to sell as much as jay. But once he cracks a certain number, it starts a discussion. He always sold more than his projections. You would think that they would give him more of a push, but they didn't, because he would've cleared the platinum mark.

People are too nostalgic.

Jay had been in business with beans for maybe 4 years when the roc broke up. Jay has been in business with Rick Ross for 20 years. But they expect dudes to treat people fukking up their lives and other peoples money like their newborn kids :mjlol:

Did he ever call Rick Ross one of his disciples or "la familia":comeon:

It's about the legacy of your label. Do you wanna have a "Last Dance" documentary about the Roc where your flagship artist are all looking beat down and broke? All complaining about how you did them dirty? I guess it worked for Jordan,we will see how it works for Jay. I'm guessing he would be in charge of it,so he can edit as he sees fit:pachaha:

Rocafella was supposed to be different mane:mjcry:

That’s what you get for tryna build with lazy zero accountability street cats that’d rather be that than something else, not seldom with ptsd type of demons. Can’t compare that to top drafted NBA cats.

The last dance is college educated, globally speaking, high performing individuals. These are not epithets one would use to describe Peedi Crack or Beans.

they don't match at all, total internet/clicks nonsense from Sigel on that point.

Seems like a harsh and unfair assessment of the situation:mjlol:

Difference between MJ and Jay-Z is MJ didn't send mixed signals. When he walked in and saw his teammates doing coke and everything else,he immediately left the room and got them shipped out later .

Jay-Z on the other hand bragged about his own illegal activities alongside them. Bragged about how they were so real and would shoot you on his behalf lol.

Y'all can stop with this he grew up narrative. He magically grew up once he was good on music, and no longer needed them to help build his music label and brand? He didn't stop messing with them for any other reason than he got a girlfriend and stopped doing music like that. He needed those "low performing" "unintelligent" young men, then he didn't.

Plus Jordan was a teammate,Jay was State Props boss. He could've fired them all and bought in some nikkas from the suburbs if their behavior was an issue:mjlol:. And don't name Kanye because he wasn't bought in to rap.

I don't like Jayz stans like you downplaying their impact after the fact. You weren't saying any of that in real time about Jay needing to get away from Beans. Y'all wanted a collab album like everybody else.

jay Z never needed SP. Sigel made the wrong move staying with Dame. Then he made an even dumber move by thinking 50 cent wanted him. Not to mention that BEYONCÉ line in his dis. Going to the radio talking shyt. That’s why Jay not fukking with him like that. Not over him being a dumbass criminal. Jay couldn’t trust him anymore from what I see

Vol 3 dropped,December 28, 1999.

Wiki says the single "Anything" dropped Feb 15,2000.

Beanie Sigel's The Truth dropped the end of Feb. Now I know your going to say that "Anything" was on Beans album.

But you don't think Beans has a point? If someone hears Anything and likes it. Do you think they are going to go buy Beans album or Jayz's album thinking Anything was probably on there:mjlol:? I don't know how many people that actually happened to,so we will never know. Then a month after Beans drops, Jay drops Big Pimpin:francis:.

So your kind of ignoring the fact that Jay dropped an album before Beans, but he's still working that album on top of Beans release. I didn't look into his other albums so I don't know if that's the case. But he has a point with his debut imo.
