They albums got identical mic ratings from The Source so I don’t get how yall on here acting like Redman soo far ahead of Beanie. Beanie right there with whoever Kiss, Redman,Nas,Jay. His downfall was he couldn’t leave the streets alone.

I missed the Redman wave…don’t know what it is, but he’s up there with the most highly regarded rappers that I never really rocked with at all like that…even a lot of the acts that I missed out in real time for whatever reason (age, regional preferences, slept on etc) I can double back on and appreciate why they are heralded…..Red never did that for me…maybe I need to do a deeper dive

For those of us who were around back then, The Source mics didn't mean sh*t. They gave Dah Shinin' 3 mics and then gave Lil' Kim's The Naked Truth 5 mics a decade later.

The Source ratings were wild inconsistent. People know what actual classics are, and what they aren't. Like I said, Beans was really dope, but nobody is bringing up any of his albums as the best ever, like they do Reggie's. Red basically ran sh*t from '92-'96. He was top bill during his run. Beans ain't never get to that level. Redman had a GOAT run. Dude is easily Top 10 all-time. Nobody regards Beans in that light. He was actually inspired by Redman, and that's why he wanted him on The B. Coming. But his legacy ain't touching Funk Doc's.
