Be honest. Mad Men is the most overrated show of all time

Mad Men was so good, I purposely am putting off a rewatch of it. I rewatch The Wire and The Sopranos every year, but every single episode of Mad Men is incredibly dense and has it's own theme. A book, movie, or television show in the background could have significance to whatever message the episode is trying to convey. I remember the season threads for this show had easily the deepest convo of any other show thread. All this without a whodunit plot or contrived twist. Plus, I'll be damned if this show didn't change how I drank and put me on to new (or old I guess) fashion. Don Draper is a top 5 TV show lead character:smugdraper:

Game of Thrones looked like it might have a shot of breaking into my top 3, but we saw how that went:mjcry:The Wire, The Sopranos, Mad Men (in that order) might never be fukked with:wow:

It doesn't look like it's flat or anything, just not the best shape. Those titty meat make up for it and her thigh game looks straight :manny:

She has a voluptuous shape from the front, but when she turns sideways I’m distracted by how sad her ass in compared to her hourglass figure

I’m also not seeing how people are putting this show in a league with the wire, or even GOT - seasons 7-8 were shyt for sure, but GOT is still miles above it. This shyt is a soap opera more than drama

Miles above it? :mjtf:

Two completely different shows but Mad Men did something Game of Thrones could never do. It stuck its landing. Not only did it stick its landing, but I can rewatch this while knowing everything and find it to be twice as more enjoyable than the first go-round. I honestly can't say the same for the latter. When you fukk an ending up that badly, it just sours the whole journey beforehand. Felt like GoT clearly lost its upper echelon status after those last two seasons.

Have you read MZS' book to go along with the series? I'm picking it up and going to start my rewatch with it during this isolation time

I'm due a rewatch of Mad Men. I love it. It's definitely one of those shows you have to pay attention to and can't be browsing on your phone or playing games or anything else. The show has a lot of depth in the characters and brings forth a lot of issues of those times without beating you over the head with it.

Nah, but thanks for the heads up. I forget the name of the podcast but after every episode they did incredible deep dives on everything. I'm gonna check the old threads for it

I'm looking for a new series to bringe from my backlog so I'm basically between this, Six Feet Under, or The Expanse. I was going to watch the pilot of each and figure out which one to binge when I was finished, so I'm def watching this thread closely as I make up my mind in the next few days.
