Being honest, the "danger" of it excites me to a degree and it's stress relief. Don't get me wrong. I video myself often and I'll get other eyes to help breakdown form flaws etc like there's no tomorrow but I think I'd be depressed as shyt if I had to throw heavy deads into the bushes

Most of the cats I know who boarded the bus to snap city on their backs lift with their egos, you gotta be humble and cautious once you get past a certain weight with those deads man or to quote Mike Tyson "humbleness will thrust itself upon you"

In some ways the heavier weight corrects form human nature is to stop with that much pressure on your back eventually. It don't see the need for reps beyond 5-8 a set however.

IDK brehs it feels good to get 4 plates off the ground

Squats too

Knock on wood I have always had a strong legs and back. My weakness is flexibility... I can't sit Indian style and I bet that is why my squat depth sucks

Yall are right though no need to push it esp if you are in the 3 plate range. I think I will get back into cycling this spring for my legs. But I think squatting and deading 2 plates is like the minimum I would say for someone to be healthy. That and having upper/lower cross balances (i.e. no slouch no pelvic tilt). I like my wheels tho.

if anybody gets hurt then you aren't doing something right (form, rest, stretching). It doesn't matter if you go heavy or light you can still get hurt.
There's plenty of people that have gone a lifetime of lifting and have not suffered injuries.

but yikes at your injury breh.

Moderately heavy and higher reps are the way to go with squats and deads imo. Dont increase your weight increase your reps, that burn, that strength, that cut :ohlawd: Once youve done the big lifts and impressed who you wanna impress calm it down before its too late.

Alot of people lift weight their arms can handle but their body cannot. I dont do more than 3 plates, ever and never do it more than once a week. I can do more but id rather rep with that at my peak then test the waters like some of these 6 plate on one side friends. Dead lifting is an excercise you get strong QUICKLY from performing so i cant let it go. Be safe, friends and stop trying to show off.

It's always interesting reading DL pain stories seeing as its one of the best lifts for back health.

You'd be surprised how little recreational lifters see therapists.
:patrice: maybe physical therapists, need to find a way too reach out more to "recreational lifters". It was like an epidemic when I used to go to LA Fitness....

Why are so many people assuming more weight = ego lift?

I've been working out at my home about the past 2 years and I didn't suddenly start lifting less weight because nobody is around.

The problem comes in when you have the weight just dangling away from your body.

True... but I had scars on my shins from years of biweekly deadlift scrapes. Never rounded my back. Never overarched. Always kept the bar close to my body.

I can only speculate, but I'm just assuming this is mostly due to my hips being naturally uneven with the amount of weight I was pulling.
