I knew it was gonna get bad reviews, but I still thought it'd do numbers.

Saw the film and it is incredible.

I first read it when I was 16 and I have loved the book ever since so when I heard they were making a film I was excited.

I had heard all of the negativity but I didn't think these people giving it negative reviews would be looking at it through my eye so I waited, and it didn't disappoint

Visually and aurally it was spectacular. The Valley of Ashes, the eyes of Dr. Eckleburg, the parties all of it was great.

I must admit I didn't like how the film flittered between the past and the present but again it was true to the book, Nick was there to let you know you were being told an account from someone and he served the same purpose in the film. Also Nick's character wasn't developed as it should have been. There were various instances in the book that were put there to let you again know this was merely his take on the matter AND that he may not have been a reliable narrator.

It was amazing seeing Fitzgerald's words brought to life and evoke the same emotions felt when I read it; Daisy is indeed a c*nt, Tom too.

I will definitely see it again and buy it on Blu Ray when it drops!

Are you and the op the same person? Pretty much everyone saying the movie is wack. Y'all coli dudes trying to overrate trash again? :comeon:

I like Casey Milligan and I thought she did a good job, but the director was so consumed with his elaborate sets and glossy 3D nonsense, he never really developed her character, I fault the script/director, her acting was fine, she just rarely had much to do, but recite lines from the book without the right format to carry the weight of such classic dialogue.

Daisy is that girl we ALL know, or know of, the careless, rich, beautiful, (shallow) but when she turns her attention to you, you can't help but almost fall in love, blind to her faults, only seeing her charms. Most of us have probably been in love, or close to a girl like Daisy, and here...very little of that comes across, she was very plastic, and artificial, without the charm and sincerity. Tom was good, but you couldn't believe Daisy or anyone would fall for him, he had no vulnerability in his performance, all bluster and machismo, his character is supposed to be a little more refined.

So much was wrong with this movie, to sum it in a few words, it was like the comic book version of the story, like a fukking Disney adaptation.

"To date" = 1 week.

That's a $60M opening weekend against Iron Man 3's second week......:childplease:

It's definitely not a flop.

I thought it was good - 7/10

My main concern was Hov's song being all over the place. I understood $100 Bill, the time it played it made sense. But then there are times where Who Gon Stop Me and Izzo are playing? WTF. Hov is my fav of all time but he had no place here at all. When the Lana Del Rey track came on it, it went perfectly with the film.

I actually never read the book before so I just found out how it ends.

Agree with all points here, as I was watching it I was thinking to myself damn did Jay-Z executive produce this? Because his music is all over the film, and then his name popped up at the end credits :deadmanny:

I thought the visuals were excellent though, and Leo did a fine job in the lead role

Was fortunate enough to see this a few days ago. It's ridiculous... To say the costume and set design is decadent wouldn't do it justice. Leo is superb, as are the rest of the cast and the 3D works brilliantly and doesn't come off as forced at all. The soundtrack and the overall way Baz tells the story is just :wow:.

Go see it when it hits cinemas, brehs. :blessed:

I'm glad you have a 3d tv to enjoy it.
I have a 80inch 4k that does 3d and yes the movie looks:wow:
