I first read it when I was 16 and I have loved the book ever since so when I heard they were making a film I was excited.
I had heard all of the negativity but I didn't think these people giving it negative reviews would be looking at it through my eye so I waited, and it didn't disappoint
Visually and aurally it was spectacular. The Valley of Ashes, the eyes of Dr. Eckleburg, the parties all of it was great.
I must admit I didn't like how the film flittered between the past and the present but again it was true to the book, Nick was there to let you know you were being told an account from someone and he served the same purpose in the film. Also Nick's character wasn't developed as it should have been. There were various instances in the book that were put there to let you again know this was merely his take on the matter AND that he may not have been a reliable narrator.
It was amazing seeing Fitzgerald's words brought to life and evoke the same emotions felt when I read it; Daisy is indeed a c*nt, Tom too.
I will definitely see it again and buy it on Blu Ray when it drops!
Are you and the op the same person? Pretty much everyone saying the movie is wack. Y'all coli dudes trying to overrate trash again?
nah
everyone said it sucked and the movie flopped, 59 mill to date
so are your posts, but we still allow u to run freethis movie was trash
Agree with all points here, as I was watching it I was thinking to myself damn did Jay-Z executive produce this? Because his music is all over the film, and then his name popped up at the end creditsI thought it was good - 7/10
My main concern was Hov's song being all over the place. I understood $100 Bill, the time it played it made sense. But then there are times where Who Gon Stop Me and Izzo are playing? WTF. Hov is my fav of all time but he had no place here at all. When the Lana Del Rey track came on it, it went perfectly with the film.
I actually never read the book before so I just found out how it ends.
Was fortunate enough to see this a few days ago. It's ridiculous... To say the costume and set design is decadent wouldn't do it justice. Leo is superb, as are the rest of the cast and the 3D works brilliantly and doesn't come off as forced at all. The soundtrack and the overall way Baz tells the story is just .

Go see it when it hits cinemas, brehs.
