knocking 97% off the cost because they put in 0% R&D costs . . these days its about 10 years, $1billion+ on a 20 year patent before a new drug hits the market - so 10 years to recoup costs. . . I sympathise with the Indians though, Bayer should reduce costs in certain territories like india to decrease this sort of thing happening. At the same time, these generics are bad for new drug development (as a few people have described earlier in this thread). I work in clinical research, 2010-2012 were complete shyt with the recession hitting the contract research industry hard - the big pharmacuetical companies cut back on R&D budgets big time which wasnt a good look
So even though they may be making huge profits, the first thing that gets cut is the R&D budget = no new development drugs
