I don't think anyones out here putting Bayer on a pedestal. The debate is about how we should motivate companies into creating solutions for current problems.

When profits are over people( Capitalism) there is no solution to the problem but more profits. Bayer hasn't been held accountable, it strives off misery, money and mayhem.

Did I mention survival, friend :patrice: in fact I intentionally made sure a lot of the things I mentioned were unrelated to pure survival for the most part. Of course people preserve themselves :what:. My whole point is that our social power is so strong it's taken us out of the Hobbesian nature paradigm you Libertarians hump to death.
:usure:

believe it or not economic systems, religion, most traditions etc. were/are all related to survival. :manny: But lets let it go. We can just call it grey.

But those same profits may enable a company to research unique and niche diseases that otherwise would go ignored. Would you put someones death over someones profit?

Believe it or not, we are not in the philosophical state of nature right now and people constantly referencing it and half-baked evopsych as iron 'biotruths' that are supposed to guide the way we live our lives is mad corny and nonsensical.

Wow research is nice but what about actually helping create a way to treat/cure it. Bayer has had a history of faux promises of creating innovative ways to help people and society.

I know the article and thread title are about Bayer, but the discussion in this thread isn't really about Bayer but rather the pharma industry as a whole. Bayers crimes were pointed out in the first two pages.
