Do they even need to? Like as of right now Drax is dead in the MCU. You could add a couple of lines of dialogue explaining why he never comes back and keep it moving.

Good point. Plus at the end of GotG Vol. 2 didn't they introduce a couple of other Ravager teams? You can just do a movie on them and keep it moving as well.
Tbh, if it came down to it I wouldn't even bother.
A4 likely ends with a feel good if not bittersweet "closure" before all the different factions (GotG, Avengers, Wakandans, etc) head their separate ways and ride off into the sunset/depths of space. That's as good of an ending as you can get without completely closing the door on a future return.

IW was way worse, he did like two leg slashes on Thanos in the battle on Titan. I thought he was a strong man and had a personal vendetta against Thanos?

MCU Drax has lowkey evolved into a joke of a character. All he does is crack excessive humor and get his ass kicked.
It's Bautista's unique charm that makes ppl overlook how weak, if not useless, the character has been.
Drax wasn’t even the same character in gotg2 and IW that he was in gotg.
