Depends on which "war"

Critically sure they have a chance 5 years from now to have a better catalog.

Financially, it's impossible for them to make more money the Marvel/Disney they could make more than Marvel/Fox
As far as artistic vision, I believe DC will win the war against Marvel.

Now a $175M movie starring D-list characters that include a talking tree and racc00n, directed by the guy best known for directing Slither and writing the Scooby Doo movies, isn't "risky" :heh:

I still remember all the "GOTG will be Marvel's first flop" type comments before the movie came out. I lurk websites like the box office forums and comicbookmovie and barely anybody expected the movie to break out like in 2014. GOTG was a huge success considering their D-list status. It out grossing Days of Future Past, Winter Soldier, and The Amazing Spider-man 2 is still crazy.

Superman is being portrayed more realistically then the one-dimensional, idealistic boy-scout in the comics

I find the DCCU movies to have better characters then in the MCU. More believable.

And why not Justice League?
I disagree. Superman hasn't been the typical boy-scout in the comics for a minute now. I also would say he's still a little one dimensional as well. You do have Snyder pushing the whole Jesus savior thing which was one of my issues with MOS.

Like I said though, I enjoyed MOS, but because of the mixed reception WB hit the panic button which is basically the Batman button and said" well looks like people ain't felling the new Superman, let's throw Batman in the next movie".

I think that was a mistake. They should have focused on making a good MOS sequel and develop Superman further. Instead in BVS, Superman gets damn near sidelined and hardly has any development.

As far as why I'm not excited for Justice League, at the end of they day it's still Snyder directing.

Suicide Squad is likely going to be the best received DC film which is good and bad at the same time.

As far as the DC characters being more believable, I'll just agree to disagree.

I'm not even trying to shyt on DC because I'm sure like most people on this forum I grew up on that godly DC animation. I'll be there day one for every DC movie regardless but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about the future of the DC universe.

Nah, break it down by what u mean though :lupe:

It's pretty self evident. The sociopathic nutcase Batman who's a genius detective, but somehow dumb enough to get manipulated so easily throughout the movie is not realistic. Certainly not any more realistic than the so-called "family friendly" Avengers characters.

It's pg13 and starring comic heroes. Despite the "dark", "grim", "brooding" nature you all are championing, the suits at DC want everyone to be able to see it. They don't have a higher sense of artistry, at the end of the day they are trying to make money too. The movie is for everyone, it's just "darker" and not as well done.

If it wasn't intended for everyone it would be rated R and 3 hours, but like most businesses, DC is not trying to leave any money on the table.
You can have a more mature and less mature pg 13 movie:comeon:

I remember plenty of people complaining about Scarecrow in BB

How was GOTG not a risk. You have a proven and successful forumula and your next move is a big budget move starring a tree and racc00n with a gun, both which talk.

For people that love to trash marvel as being "formulaic", deciding to scrape the bottom of the barrel for characters even more obscure than the ones you already have control over is a giant business risk. And let's not even get on Antman. The name alone was a risk because what casual viewer is marking the calendar to see a movie called Ant Man :mjlol:

That's why the projections were all over the place and no one had them doing nearly as well as they did. Those are risks. Putting batman and superman in the same movie, adding in Wonder Woman and lex, and finally choosing to move it up to avoid your competition is as risk averse as you can get come on :mjlol:
You just answered your own question:dwillhuh:

It was the same formula just with lesser known characters. And once again where is this notion coming from that people especially children don't love talking animals ?

Thor Dark World = $644 millon +

MOS= $668 million + (with the bigger budget)

so lets slow down on the Thor disrespect, superman aint the man no more
Exactly. DC is not going to make anywhere close to the amount of money that Marvel has. I don't see any of the DC films hitting a billion

Should of made over a billion since it featured the first 2 comic characters and arguably the most exposed.
This is an overrated variable

In terms of box office casting RDJ> Having Batman and Superman.

Everyone seems to forget that IM3 made almost $300M more than TDK and TDKR. $850M is a good number

Why can't people just admit that MCU movies appeal to a younger age :heh:

How else can it be explained that TDKR and IM3 were received virtually the same and yet IM3 made $300M more:krs:

If the fact that having more iconic characters means more box office then if IM3 makes 1.3B TDKR should have made at least 1.5B unlessss.......... DC makes movies where the age threshold is older
