Jay Z won, didn't he but a Basquiat piece years ago for like $5m? You'd have to assume it's worth near $50m now...

That painting is not worth 110 mill. As someone stated it's money Laundering. Much like Real Estate in NYC( my industry) these Roch folks just need to park their money. Either to avoid taxes or launder ill gotten funds OR to straight up hide money. We have apartments selling for 100 million that the owner has never stepped foot in and it's under some weird LLC and shyt. The higher the price the more money you can dump at it.

Can u explain this further? How does art go side to side with money laundering and tax avoidance? Also Doesn't the value of art decrease when u buy it meaning you'll money when you sell it after a few years?

Who was he close to when he passed? I hope they're seeing some of this money. It's sad when the greats pass early and don't get to see how their art has carried on through time.

Like ya'll nikkas could do any of the shyt Jean-Michel did...

Art is about so much more than making anatomically correct figures. Even the figures in antiquity weren't totally anatomically correct. They highlighted or diminished certain feature based on their culture.

Same thing with Pollock. Color, composition, where to do what, what materials to use and how to use them.

Art is already subjective. But I don't see ya'll slamming Picasso for making squares or Monet for making all his shyt blurry as hell. :mjpls::mjpls::mjpls:
