detroit picked the franchise leader

cade is not the walking highlight reel he is the coach on the court type player

slow feet but the quickest mind

detroit didn't just need a guy to chuck it up & catch highlights on sportscenter

houston is going with the young run & gun squad they have no real #1 they don't feel like they need that

jalen doesn't have to think about it too much in the rockets situation he can just play

the pistons situation is gonna require a lot of thinking ha

Emeka Okafor was smarter than Dwight Howard

Rondo is highly intelligent and a floor general, doesn't make him a Top 20 player in the league

Nothing to do with Cade, but this "smart" descriptor the NBA analysts always use is so lazy. And undermines other skills the player has

you not wrong

however as i said its situation dependent & in detroits situation intelligence was at a premium

honestly playing from between the ears is never overrated

it carries you the farthest for the longest

it let's you eat even when athleticism & bounce burns out

on the floor off the floor how you play it between the ears matters more

shyte how cade & his people campaigned in detroit before/during/after the draft made a difference

somebody is using their brain over there ha

Cade locked up Green and was working him. :yeshrug: the Pistons are not letting Cade handle PG duties at the moment. But once he takes over it’s a wrap.
came in to post this

Cade did well defensively on Green.

Hopefully Dwayne Casey lets Cade run the show in the reg season

Cade is a lot more talented than Okafor and Howard is a lot more physically gifted than Green.

It wont be on the level of Darko over Wade/Bosh/Melo or Bagley over Luka....

Yeah you're proving my point. I'm just saying "being smart" has no influence on your basketball skills as far as being an elite player. Cade has other skills that make him great

This is a whole fact. Watching him communicate and how much he is engaged with his teammates, I can see why they took him over Green. No hate to Jalen. I like him but I don’t see him in the same category as Cade. In my eyes Cade has the better basketball IQ.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Tape is tape.

yeah, but nationally televised college games ain’t the same as the g league. There’s the assumed more pressure do to the high profile of college basketball.

And had there been enough tape on Luca, he would’ve been picked higher.

It all boils down to projection anyway. And it’s not like Jalen went 10th. He was the 2nd pick. I don’t think you could go wrong with either pick to be honest.

Tape is tape. Scouts and GM's go see these players IN PERSON. They get film we've never seen. They get private workouts.

Luka Doncic had 3 years' worth of film since he turned pro at 16. This isn't about tape.
