and singing and talking spanish is not as american as apple pie, that is ridiculous, singing and talking spanish is as mexican as a burrito, i think that is what you meant to say

the problem with what you are saying is that using your logic if the kid had sung the mexican national anthem you would say there is nothing wrong with that

nah had he sung the mexican national anthem i'd fall back, but he didn't.
Also, in the southwest speaking spanish AND hispanic culture IS American. just is bruh, and it's only going to get more and more ingrained. That's what happens to cultures, the blend.

I will always fall back on "what is american culture" when this argument comes up and you will always be trying to hit a moving target.

Furthermore, the outfit the kid was wearing originally comes from Mexico, but isn't a "traditional Mexican outfit" with some patriotic or political connection to Mexico. Regular Mexicans, or even traditionally-dressed Mexicans aren't walking around looking like that. It's a performance costume, just like the weird dresses and gowns that white and Black women wear when singing the anthem, which have no traditional connection to the US and aren't "American national symbols."

I don't understand why the media make such a big deal on what people say on twitter. Of course there are going to be idiot comments on twitter. IMO, the media took Gabby Douglas shine away, when the media made a big deal about what some black women said about her hair.
