Twism is right. I don't have a problem with the boy, It didn't even cross my mind that this would be an issue....

but to be fair, Their is nothing legal or illegal about ethic cultures... so hispanic culture in american cities can't LEGALLY predate any established city.
when many of those cities existed before they were a part of the united states you sorta gotta expect for them to be flavored that way. It's not like San Antonio was a patch of dirt and then america got texas and then create San Antonio. San Antonio existed prior to being an american city. Ergo the MEXICAN in that city has deeper legal roots that many "white" Americans, and deeper than ALL of those who came in via elise island in that texas and the inhabitants of its cities were made citizens when we acquired texas....the point is more to address the idea that "these people" just got here and have no roots or also the idea that AMERICA doesn't have hispanic roots as well.

no not really, what does "mexican oriented" mean

san antonio is an american city that has a lot of people of mexican descent, but they are americans not mexican

San Antonio in particular was well established prior to becoming an american city so it will have it's historical flavoring. While they are American there is NOTHING the prohibits AMERICANS from wearing stuff like that listening and singing whatever they want...somehow you've confused talking and singing in spanish as not being American; when in fact it's as American as apple pie.

im not down with racists and trolls but im not down with greater aztlan either
nor Am I. I doubt the kid singing the AMERICAN national anthem is either. Have you seen mexico lately? there's a reason people put life and limb on the line to get here.

and my response is the same, so what? it still looked weird, i dont think there is anyway around that even if a lot of people responded in a racist way

and singing and talking spanish is not as american as apple pie, that is ridiculous, singing and talking spanish is as mexican as a burrito, i think that is what you meant to say

the problem with what you are saying is that using your logic if the kid had sung the mexican national anthem you would say there is nothing wrong with that

i'm confused is there an "american" way to dress now? did i miss a memo?

how do Americans dress again?

The issue is not one of "dress" it's of ignorance and anyone siding with trolls...well fuk your'e siding with trolls that should tell you enough.

I'm not cosigning the racism I'm just saying singing the national anthem wearing tradtional mexican garb is retarded.

Seems like people are grasping for straws/reaching in an attempt to find something wrong with this... he was a mariachi singer dressing like a mariachi singer. I don't see the problem. He didn't sing it in Spanish or something, and there's no political message behind a mariachi outfit.

I saw the shyt and didn't think it would be a situation. It was interesting but wasn't something I even thought about.... but this is America, dressing up like this knowing everything we know about the feelings of certain parts of America aka damn near half of Americans, the kids handlers should have expected this.
Personally I would respect it more if it was a political message about how that (texas) was really their land and now their cousins and sisters are being discriminated against in the Southwest.... But if he just put on that retarded outfit and did it just because, that's stupid while singing the USA song...

Nobody makes this big of a deal when an Irish troop or color guard presents the colors at a game or event wearing kilts. This is no different besides the fact that everybody loves to hate Mexicans

if somebody performed the national anthem in a kilt it would look weird and it wouldn't be appropriate, a kilt is not an american national symbol

But it happens all the time. There really is no such thing as "American"

America was built off immigration. For hundreds of years people have come here and they still hold to their cultural roots. Theres nothing wrong with being an American, Loving this country and still respecting your origins.

But i guess everybody should just wear a suit/dress right? :comeon:

As it has been said, San Antonio was founded before Texas was a part of the United States. It was a part of Mexico, therefore it has a lot of Mexican roots and heritage. I personally know families that were there before it became a part of Texas.

And let me get this straight. We have people who defend flying the Confederate Flag, but this young man can't wear a Mariachi outfit? Has heritage been outlawed in this country?
