My problem with baseball is the money that's given out to these players.

For example... Andre Either before this season was arguably a glorified platoon player, fast forward to this season and he parlays a hot start (in a contract year mind you) into a 5 year 85 million dollar contract.

lol at Miami supporting the Heat

thats why I said Florida, and its only because of how good they've been, in 6-10 years the audience will be like the other teams there.

:wow: so we're using the all star argument to justify a player's value these days now? :manny:

Truth is he's really a 4/44 or in reality a 3/33 player.

Throw in any stat old school or saber and it'll prove up until this season he was a platoon player.

New management same decisions..

Oh and regarding those bad contracts in the nba... Well owners should know better than to overpay these athletes in a walkyear

The Rays went to their first World Series and could barely sell out, people in Florida care but don't care.

Exactly, it's not fair to use the Marlins as an example when even the Heat have trouble packing the house. Outside college football it's not a good sports state.

did you nikkas know they changed the alds this year? the team with the worse records gets the first 2 games while the team with the better record gets the last 3. defeats the purpose really. its to "save on travel" but a lot of those teams are seperated by 1 or 2 games, so those first 2 games are really important...

im not mad about the extra wc slot, just it needs to be more than 1 game

This is only because they added the WC spot so late. In the future it will be as it should.

Even if what you said about Ethier were accurate.......who cares? You aren't paying him. The sport is clearly generating enough money to pay the players these crazy amounts.

I have no idea why this would turn someone off of baseball. It's irrational and childish.

I'd trade Puljos' entire stint as a Cardinal and both recent World Series wins...fukk I'd send the Redbirds to Indianapolis or Memphis or something...for another Kobe era Lakers championship...fukk baseball

The playoffs are still fun. The tension between pitches in an important at-bat is some crazy shyt. A lot of drama there.

But I'm not a fan of how the game is structured with so many teams that are irrelevant. I'm not saying there should be a salary cap... maybe contraction. I'm not cool with one franchise spending $150M+ to field a team and another spending $40M. Something wrong with that picture.

The extension of the playoffs will now help small market teams get into the crap shoot on a more consistent basis but it also lessens the meaning of regular season games.
