I think a lot of people hate when these type of shows reach this point. It's entertaining and fun when the main character is "winning" - getting away with things, overcoming hurdles, killing threats to himself/family, etc. But this show has always been about consequences, and the end of S3 and all of S4 have taken that to another level. He was down, bad. And the time jump shows him getting what he wanted, but no one is happy. They're miserable. And at some point it really seems like all this shyt is about to fall apart. I don't think he'll die, but I think he will lose everything.

I get the the vibe that Barry never had anything to begin with. He was a blank cypher of a man that we routed for because he was the main character, and the show was named after him. But he's legit been a lost cause long before he turned up to LA

Nah, when BB had episodes with no gunfights or explosions, cats would be I the thread calling it filler.

@hex
My point applies much more to better call Saul, which I loved, but this episode would've been super par for course for bcs and actually more eventful than many of the first couple season eps. But, we just accepted that...

Tag hex all you want for support but my point stands

Not sure if I'm liking the time jump for two reasons:

1. No one has recognized them in eight years? No one has come looking for them?
2. Not really buying that Sally could just walk away from Hollywood for the middle of nowhere with a psychopath that easily.

I'll give it to Hader for doing things that are unpredictable and we'll see how it all plays out but as of right now the jump feels like unnecessary plot spinning.

My only issue with the time jump is that we missed out on some resolutions or conflicts that I looked forward to. Gene shoots his son and we don't see what happens. We can presume the son died, given that Gene fled the country, but that's such a character altering moment I'd want to see it. Then you have Jim Moss outside of Sally's apartment. Barry is certainly skilled enough to exit the apartment without being seen but given his mind state I wouldn't be stunned if he simply walked out the apartment's front door and got spotted. I suppose we'll know soon enough whether Moss is alive or not, since Gene's return will likely spark him returning to the scene (if he's alive).

We saw this just happen with Snowfall, folks complaining about Franklin completely falling apart instead of getting his revenge because he "deserved" the money.

These shows are ultimately about the consequences of your actions and the trail of bodies you leave behind in your own self-interest

They really stuck with this time jump thing? SMH.
  • Barry is raising a serial killer, straight up.
  • Kid can't even play baseball? smh.
  • Sally is down bad, like really bad
  • Fonzie looking hilarious. And still the same dude. Neva change Gene, neva change.

I like when shows just completely go left and subvert expectations.

Its the opposite of something like power where at the end of every season it mostly goes back to the status quo.

Agree with this sentiment. I think that’s why I didn’t love the time jump. It’s not that I’m opposed to the idea, but I wanted to see what happened in those situations. I also wanted to see what happened with Fuches. I’m assuming he becomes a big player in prison, and maybe us running shyt there. I’m sure we’ll see.

Nah she didn't. She got a crazy ass offer as an acting coach, 70k a week that would've kept her in Hollywood exposed to a lot of major players and she decided to run off with a psycho.
She’s a self centered a$$hole too, and 70k per movie coaching someone more popular than her wasn’t going to cut it. She even tried to take her role from her in front of that director. Sally ain’t playing second fiddle to anybody. And she’s in a cycle of abuse. Barry’s a psycho but he makes her feel safe and he gives her the love and attention she craves.

I always wonder how many people in nothin happening ass towns are hiding in plain sight from their terrible past or histories. Road trips especially...the random people you meet in passing...how many of them have mad felonies or are on the run or wanted...

I mean, how easy would it be to become a random drone employee at a diner or farmhand in Montana or wyoming or the dakotas, or work for a moving company in Cincinatti while being on the run from New Mexico...and imagine all that before the internet and interstate communication was official.

this a big fukkin country and shyt like that weirds me out
Been that way since the pilgrims.

Statistically speaking - there has to have been at least a few psychopaths on The Mayflower who made London too hot for themselves, put on the baseball outfit and the big hat, said a couple of prayers and decided to get ghost before the bobbies pulled up :manny:
A lot of Europeans came to this country in the late 19th century or early 20th century running from the horrendous things they did back home.

My wife told me about a coworker who found that her great-grandfather was an infamous murderer in Portugal. He came to America and anglicized his name, and here we are.
