Heres some Romans
African lion vs Grizzly Bear

The siberian tiger might hunt some brown bears of russia and have it under raps, but the himalayin bear is alot more game than any other bear, so if a bengal tiger doesnt have the tibetan bear underwraps in the wild, what makes you think he would in the roman games?

The bear, on the other hand, was groping slowly but surely for the tiger's neck. The tiger, agile and strong as it was, was less enduring. It was used to killing instantaneously. It was not adapted for a drawn-out struggle, and soon the tablesturned. It was getting the worst of the fight. The bear's powerful jaws closed on its throat. The cat roared hoarsely and beat about in death pains. That was the end of a unique

LUCK NOW - The bears fought better than the tigers but they fought in a laughable style.106 Fanny Parkes adds that the King had also arranged a fight between two tigers and a horse who had the distinction of having killed two tigers earlier.

But to my amazement, the little bear rose on his hind legs, growled ferociously, and slapped out with his small paws. The tiger pulled up in surprise. Four times the tiger returned to the attack; four times the little bear engaged in his desperate . bluff, and he won. The tiger, after its last attempt, turned tail, climbed high into a plane tree, and refused to descend. The little bear was unharmed.

On two occasions I have seen Himalayan bears walk off with tigers'kills.

Dominating what though...an antelope?

Looking at the beast battle in the back, looks like the tigers are the ones running away:

For ocean's empire, and both reap'd despair
So, while two tigers struggle for a prey,
The mightier lion bears the spoil away.

House of the Faun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On either side of the exedra were two dining rooms (I, J), one open in its entire breadth upon the second peristyle, the other having a narrow door with two windows. The fine mosaic picture in It was found in so damaged a condition that the subject—a lion standing over a prostrate tiger

a duplicate was found, that duplicate was sent to the museum in naples:

Only fragments were found of the mosaic in the room next to the exedra (plate 79:15), a scene with a lion bringing down a tiger
https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&tbm=bks&q=%22a+scen e+with+a+lion+bringing+down+a+ti ger%22&oq=%22a+scene+with+a+lion +bringing+down+a+tiger%22&gs_l=s erp.3...5176.6415.0.6579.2.2.0.0 .0.0.131.256.0j2.2.0....0...1c.1 .64.serp..0.0.0.93AGHMNmMEc

Hence this artifact is a replica restored of the house of faun which is in the naples museum:

"This Exhibition was organized by the Napoleonic authorities in the Capitol in Rome."

Tons of books cite that tigers always won, but these are more modern people who take abstracts of tigers are larger than lions then assume the tigers always won, hence they do not cite a plate, poet, mosaic, artifact or any other form of tangible evidence. Hence you have thousands of people just saying tigers always won, but none with proof.

Wikipedia has different variations of the fights,

Tiger versus lion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Лев против тигра — Википедия

León contra tigre - Wikipedia, la enciclopedia libre

Anyone can become a member there and edit what ever they want in, the english version has two mods that erase anything pro lion, hence it looks like that...the problem is with wikipedia is, no authority like a historian or someone who majors in each specific discussion is reviewing it, any fan is just citing in anecdotal stuff or things that are secondary source opinion in other words not their root source, no indian source shows the gunga account nor baroda account.

The tiger has all the advantages it's bigger and also faster/agile. The lions mane makes it interesting but the Tigers Paw strikes are much faster and would most likely daze the lion easily gives the tiger time to digg into that mane. One paw strike and and lion is going down the tiger will the pounce there's no hair on the face.

Tiger for the win:jawalrus:

Cool, although I dont think the tiger will be getting pass the mane on the most part, by then the tiger will tire out, as he is more of a explosive and all in all at once type of fighter:

A tiger can dig into the mane for a long time, its still hardly got pass the mane

Which leads to exhaustion

The tiger no dought will be dominating in the first few instances, but after the fight gets prolonged, the tiger will give in... and the lion will keep coming, like a pit bull. The blows of the tigers seem more to be used for blinding his opponent and at best knocking them off balance, but the lion according to the link on the first page, has killed almost every type of foe hes gone up against with one blow. Its almost the same as they hunt, a tiger will hide in the jungle all day until something walks pass it and pounces on it, if he doesnt kill the animal right away the tiger will give up...
www.youtube.com/watch?v=etz9jx1zvz0

But interestingly you can see here that the tiger is actually taller than the buffalo:
hqdefault.jpg

With tigers only 2-3 feet tall, this would mean these were only calf's, but still impressive...and which leads to the tiger will still be stronger in that area, hes more of a grappler yanking things down predator.

The lion is different, if his attacks fail and is repulsed, he will follow you until he kills you.

I think the size thing is mute, both are bigger than the other in their respected compositions.
