This was pretty solid for the most part. Brilliant build-up of tension in that first hour that was better than anything I’ve seen in horror this year. Kinda lost itself mid-way and wish it maintained its creepiness all the way through, but it’s still one of my favorites that I found refreshing. This felt like a mix of Malignant’s what-the-fukkery with that classic, Evil Dead unsettling vibe for a solid chunk.

I don’t think a jump scare has ever hit me as hard since The Descent, and similarly flips the entire film on its head in such a good way. I was really expecting the film to get even more demented from here. For those who have watched, y’all already know which scene I’m talking about. :picard:

I already recognized Georgina from Black Mirror, and she did her thing here. Where the hell has Justin Long been at though? Feels like I haven’t seen the dude in years. Glad he’s back.

Low-key, I wouldn’t be shocked if someone told me he really was trapped in a dungeon for the past decade. :dead:

:russ: at his character getting Mr. Me Too’d. I wasn’t expecting to laugh so hard at that scene, especially considering what it had to follow.

The one after that where Mother reveals herself for the first time and smashes Pennywise’s head to smithereens. :merchant:

Dope movie...felt modern and like a throwback horror simultaneously which was cool. Also definitely took some left turns I wasn't expecting. My only real criticism is I wanted to see a few more moments of Tess getting kidnapped by the Mother in the dungeon before that hard cut

Listened to an interview with Zach Cregger and he said they shot a scene where the Mother chews up a rat and "baby bird" feeds it to Justin Long's character but cut it...would've been fukking disgusting but also pretty memorable for a horror lol

The year 3030
gotta say, trailers did a good job of not spoiling anything

had no idea justin long was in it so after the screen fades to black then you see goofy ass justin long i was like :dahell:

then it briefly becomes about #metoo and i'm wondering how the fukk does this all tie together

then we have the flashback of the rapist guy

then it slowly all falls into place

Jusitn a fukkin scumbag tho :heh: glad he got, got

Kinda itching to go see this again during the week.

They did a great job with the camera work when Mother grabbed hold of that measuring tape. :damn:

Especially the shaky cam as Long’s character was trying to recollect himself with his flashlight. Don’t consider myself claustrophobic, but I can see that sequence nailing the feeling for those who are.

I’ve been hearing good things about this film, I’m gonna check it out :ehh: it surprised the hell outta me when I realized that Zach Cregger from the Whitest Kids U Know directed the film lol This is very different from his previously directed film

Just got back from seeing it. The Malignant factor is a good comparison, just in the way it takes some unexpected, but entertaining turns. I have to assume they were playing with classic horror tropes because

No way in hell if I was Tess, would I go back down there to rescue Keith, get captured then go back down there for actor Justin Long :why:.

Definitely glad I went in, knowing very little about it.
