Hmmm, I'm highly conflicted on this and for the first time I can see the debate and both sides.
1. Immigrants MUST attempt to integrate into the various communities they move into. I always found it very irritating when people of any race move into a country, use resources and don't attempt to integrate or assimilate with the people around them.
2. America is particularly tricky for black immigrants as it must be acknowledged that there are people who spent their blood, sweat and tears to pave the way for black people in that country to live as human beings, due to this black immigrants of ANY nationality must acknolwedge that, must attempt to integrate with African Americans as it's insulting to come to America, use the resources, programs, oppurtunties African Americans fought for without even acknowledging them. That is insulting. Come to America and distance yourself and turn your nose up at the very people who created the pathway for you fr live there ? nope, nope can't happen.
3. I can understand why immigrants will band together with other immigrants when they first arrive (new land, new language etc) so the presence of these communities are important for their adjustment so I'm not advocating they don't exist but once they've learned the ropes they must begin to integrate.
