We know ws did us in. That’s no secret. But ws ain’t gonna fix it either. At some point we have to stop pointing fingers and look in the mirror. The only people that’s gonna get us outta this is us

Yes, I agree but you can't give the medicine without recognizing the issue. I hate when people start preaching without first accepting the baseline. If you understand that we are in our situation because of White Supremacy and that it's on us to climb out of it then we will be ready when White Supremacy tries to thwart our efforts as we know it's the issue.

That's a failure of the system. The White US Government impoverished the neighborhoods and then made education funding come from the neighborhood which created a vicious cycle. But since White Supremacy works by throwing a rock and hiding their hands the cause of this disaster is somehow unknown
  • OMG is it the parents?
  • OMG is it their culture?
  • OMG is it the rap music?
  • OMG is it their DNA?
No, it's muthafukkin' wide scale disenfranchisement in every facet of society thats the issue.

True but in the end it's the parents fault.

It's not the parent's fault. It's the school district(s) fault for not putting in the effort to make a difference in these kids' lives when they enter that school building for the next eight hours.

The majority of (white) teachers are coming from white suburban areas and driving nearly 30-40mins to the inner-city schools just to collect a paycheck (out of town teachers get paid more to teach in the inner city) and don't really care what happens to these kids because they don't have any personal feelings nor interest in connecting with the students.

This can't be fixed unless white supremacy is destroyed so it will never be fixed because whites will never give up power. I wish the community could take it upon themselves to do something about this but ultimately they don't have access to the info or time to teach children.

THIS needs be highlighted!!!!

We know that WS started this. But at some point...if we're intelligent beings as we believe...you learn from past generations.

The parents fault.

You're a great poster but I can't FW you on this. I definitely think there is personal accountability but you are also born into situations out of your control. It's like blaming someone born into slavery for being a slave. First they need to be educated that they are a slave, then they need to be educated that it's not right, and then they need to be compelled to do something about it.

People put these crazy expectations on Black Americans that they don't put on anyone else.

It's on the kids and parents.

I went to school with knuckleheads that still did enough work to hit 2.0, 2.4 etc. They didn't love school but they grinded when they had to.

These kids are lost by the time they hit 6th grade. 6th to 8th is where you can rescue a lot of bad apples. If they get past 8th grade and dgaf......they're done when high school hits.

Money doesn't matter. Big city school districts often spend more per pupil than suburban districts.

Personally......I think "urban" districts have too much administration...too many people with degrees that aren't involved in actually teaching the kids. Plus the teachers lose hope because administration only cares about standardized test scores.

I understand what you are saying about people being born into a cycle of poverty and ignorance. You are correct some of these kids don't know any "professional" type of people so they don't truly understand the importance of education. But at some point the parents have to grow up and put their kids on the right path. No one else is coming to save them.

The other option is for educated black people to "give back" and mentor at 5 times the rates that we are seeing now.
