I think that's less impactful than you think. The Suns can match any offer, if no one gave him the max, why not try to get the guy on a discount? It's clear they don't really fukk with him like that.

If you put Denver there I think you have to put Dallas in there too. They lost Brunson, but they added Christian Wood.

Part of it is that teams think big men are as replaceable as toothbrushes. We're seeing a change in that thinking, but there are still teams who think they can play Golden State's style and beat them at it.

Also it's the idea of "well it's better than nothing". Monty can't wait for him to leave. If all that's waiting for James Jones is a cheaper version of a player Monty doesn't really wanna use, then it leaves the coach having to play someone to justify their value and he probably doesn't wanna do that,

That's a net negative. They're in that next tier of "they'll be really good, but I can't take them seriously as a Finals contender." It's still just Luka & Friends unless Christian Wood wants to become Siakam.
