Many hispanics have made their own neighborhoods in small to mid sized cities. I have had this conversation with many many people before and the mindset so many people in NYC have is completely backwards. Most minorities in NYC do not OWN, they LIVE there, but they don't OWN. Once the interests shift, it's all going to the highest bidder and one can't really blame the landowners trying to capitalize.

Even if minorities did own their home's. The city would just catch em with property and home ownership tax. Renting or Owning, Gentrification is going to tap ya pockets

I aint from New York but a good chunk of my fam are from there. They either moving to Jersey, The Carolina's, Upstate NY, or Atlanta.

why wasn't/ hasn't gentrification been protested against more aggressively by the natives of these areas?

Blacks been protesting this shyt since Clinton was in office.

Actually, this is not exactly correct. The problem is that you are looking at one of the largest cities in the world in where it will be extremely difficult for minorities to take control of an area.

@DEAD7 has all the answers.
Eh....what about Chinatown and communities like flushing and little neck?

Kind of makes your point moot. They actively discriminate against people that aren't Chinese living there...I know. I tried getting a place there for cheap and they refused to rent to me.

They preserve the backbone of their communities.

EVERYONE gets hit with those taxes, so I am not sure your angle here?

There is a GREAT opportunity in this country for minorities to build wealth, but not all have the knowledge or discipline to take advantage of the opportunities. Those who are stuck in the north-east bubble are delusional. You are playing a game in which you are at a SIGNIFICANT disadvantage, my friend just got taught a very expensive 400K-600K lesson trying to build an empire in NYC. Even that number is just simply not enough to acquire the kind of power needed to influence in a city like New York, I don't even know why I try explaining this to some :snoop:

Eminent domain laws....basically the government's nice way of saying "we own you and the clothes on your back."

My angle is they wouldnt be able to keep up. Which in turn is playing their hand and forcing em to sell. Which in turn still results in blacks leaving their homes and whites moving in.

I understand your point of potential financial acquisition. But It aint even about nikkas being stubborn. Its about, why the fukk do blacks have to be forced out of their residents and homes that they lived for decades. Just cause some rich white dude wants to be able to take a train to wall street quicker?

Idk, why u asking me?

Because the statement u made was ignorant.

It's about both. You can't separate one without the other. It's literally impossible.

But if you do that then u lump 'poor' and 'Black People' together as one.

When it was affordable there's crime
When its expensive there's less crime.

If i have land that is depreciating in value, as a business man I'm gonna do something to make it valuable ,regardless to how it looks to others.
Are you saying i'd be wrong for thinking like that?.

When do blacks and Latinos gentrification neighborhoods?

I hate to burst yo bubble breh...but by definition blacks and Latinos cannot be described or assigned as gentrifiers. Simply because they are not a gentry class. To be a gentry class you have to have generational wealth, assets, trust funds, etc...Black and Spanish people cannot do this and don't have these resources nor do they own the property en mass they stay in hence the reason they are getting kicked out and pushed out so easily.

Whites are the premier gentry class. Stop.

It's happening breh.

East LA,which is overwhelmingly Latino... is being gentrified by Latinos.

Latinos in LA, aren't like most latinos elsewhere...they actually own property because they've been living in the city for 100+ years...and have long established communities.

Many educated and upwardly mobile blacks and latino's do seek to live in communities that look like them....and when they move into communities where they make more money than the average resident... they are gentrifiers.

The act of gentrification, is simply people of a higher income, moving in and taking over a lower income area.

Where are all of these affluent communities where blacks that come from means are displacing whites?

Please...show them to me. They actually exist? Cause last time I checked blacks were getting gentrified out of many communities...and the black communities that were thriving are now defaulting in property values as the residents were not as affluent as thought....but basically high paid employees.

Whites are the majority in america...of course they are going to be the number one gentrifiers. Latinos do not have that clout to enact gentrification on the scale they have been at yet
