Bulls have not been taken seriously as a basketball team since May of 2015. Let that sink in. :unimpressed:

They were the talk of the NBA last year before the collapse. We have to see how AKME proceeds. GarPax typically took too long to break the core up for their teams. It'll be interesting to see if a pivot comes or they double down on the mistakes they made and ride this out.

Being the talk of the league don't = Being taken seriously. People just liked to talk because they had some big names on it.

Garpax didn't wait to long to give up on the core. Noah and Pau being gone made sense because they were old and injured. Drose and Jimmy should have been given more time. But once again they failed to properly build around them. Not a coincidence that both were better once they left the Bulls.

Would like to see a coaching change 1st, and a addition of a 3pt shooter and a pg before we get to overhauling the roster.
Billy was such a meh hire from the get-go. He’ll get a directionless team looking respectable (which was severely needed at the time we got him) but he’s not giving you much else after that.

What's the criteria for being taken seriously? There's a lot of grey area around that statement.

This is a perfect way of putting his time here.. He can bring a group together but can't make a rational decision at the end of a game to save his life.

I been looking at him side ways since the first year he been here. I don't see what he does well as a coach. I look at what Greg pop, nick nurse, Rick carlisle, thibs, etc do with the roster they have. No matter who on the floor their teams play hard and respond. They just lack the talent. We have the talent. Donovan not getting the most out of it.

In the context of contending. The Bulls have not been serious contenders since 2015. There were people that thought that team would at least make it to the finals. No one has ever felt that about any Bulls team post 2015.

Even now. Before Lonzo's injury, people saw them as a good regular season team, but there was always doubt as far as success in the playoffs. Yeah, they were the #1 seed at some point, but many people (rightfully so) wrote them off because they were only winning against teams below .500.

There is no quick fix to this team. This sounds grim but the team won't ever reach its true potential until Jerry either dies or sells the team to someone that cares. Until then. We just have to ride the wave of mediocracy.

I believe Demar and Vuc will be traded. Zach will too at some point in his contract and then we'll officially be off to another rebuild. I'm sure one of Ayo, Pat(if he's still here) or maybe even Dalen Terry will step into the 'star' role and it will be the same thing all over again because the owner and FO don't care as long the money keeps coming in.
I’ve come to understand especially by posts in this thread that there are a large number of bulls fans 100% ok with this tho… mediocrity/treadmilling is an acceptable state to them :francis:

I don’t see any major trades happening this season tho …there is too much sunken cost fallacy imo for AKME to do that …if they were to pivot at the deadline I’d be incredibly surprised…it’s ironic because AK when first hired had this spicy talk quote about “delusional front offices thinking they are close to contending” but here they are 3 First Round Picks spent on a team that’s currently 6-10 …personally I don’t think Jerry has the stomach for another rebuild so they’ll likely trade some of the young guys to “make a run for it” before we get rid of the vets …I’m sure Jerry wants that playoff revenue after tasting it last season.

Ayo definitely shows he's no Lonzo replacement yet either...he does some real dumb rookie shyt and that wide open 3 cost us the game
Yeah, I don't know why some brehs feel compelled to start talking that "Who needs Lonzo :camby:" noise whenever Ayo does something good. It always ends with coming down to earth and realizing there's levels to it. I'm grateful that Ayo is a dog and he has a bright future, but Lonzo has such great basketball IQ and makes magic with how he sees the court and sets brehs up.
