As for the topic of the thread.

The way No Limit sold all those records was this.

Pac died in 1996, taking the West Coast's dominance with him.

Ice Cube was mostly making movies, Dr. Dre left Death Row and did that forgettable "Aftermath" record, Ice-T was old as hell doing movies & TV, Snoop fell off hard, and Suge Knight went to prison taking Death Row down with him.

From the East came Puffy, Jay, and all the East Coast cats with that "shiny suit" Hype Williams' video glossy shyt (with the exception of DMX).

Master P & No Limit occupied the spot that Death Row had a few years earlier, creating this kind of supermajority in Hip-Hop, where they won the South, the West Coast, where P. started No Limit & did his "West Coast Bad Boys".

Then, the Midwest was always West Coast/South friendly embraced him.

Pretty much everywhere but New York embraced what he was doing.

I'm gonna be real, a lot of us hated & resented Puffy, Jay, and the kind of champagne mafioso rap that New York was doing and resented them because of how the shyt with Pac & Biggie went down, so I'll admit it.

I embraced No Limit at the time to replace Pac & Death Row before I realized a lot of that shyt was wack:yeshrug:

Master P was already gold before 2 pac died so you're wrong about this..

i said older people.

i didnt say elderly old ladies. more like the generation before us - the side of that gen that wasnt into hip-hop.

example: my aunt who is pushing 60 and was never into hip-hop, knows about c-murder.

i never said he was up there with those names. stop looking so desperate.

So one person you personally know = "older people who don't even listen to rap"... got you.

It wouldn't matter anyway, that whole "older people who don't follow Hip Hop" premise he used to validate C-Murder's stardom is the same one he uses to discredit OutKast. So I guess elderly Black folk who had copies of Babyface's For The Cool In You were anticipating C-Murder's Life or Death.

Does the RIAA back in 1996-1998 counted CDs/tapes that were sold from the Mom and Pop stores around the country in every hood?? Or do they just tally up their sales, from Circuit City, TowerRecords, Best Buy, etc??

Why would P continue to say he sold 100 million records sold, where is he getting this number for and why 100 and not 50 or 200, the man has to know his business right or nah??

Master P - The Ghetto Trying to Kill album sold how many records???

RIAA counts any amount shipped. Unless the mom & pop store didn't track that info. 1996-1998 is not some ancient, far off time breh. RIAA got info going back to the 1960's.

Which leads me back to my original point....there is no way to prove/disprove what Master P is saying.

If you look at the numbers No Limit did according to RIAA, the entire label is sitting at around 20 mill. Including all singles, soundtracks, albums, etc. Let's say 30 mill just to be fair.

If he's saying they did 100 mill that's 70 million units he's short. There ain't no margin of error in the world that big, mom & pop stores or not. I mean we can sit here and say "well, if you count overseas, and hole in the wall record stores sold a ton that wasn't accounted for"....but there's no proof for any of that.

As far as why he'd say 100 mill....is that a serious question? :dahell: Rappers been exaggerating since day 1.

So Cal
100 million

100 albums would mean that each pushed 1 million (Did NL drop 100 albums) from 96-2000? P was yelling he hit 75-100 million sold in the 2000s

A breh stated that Wiki numbers are World-wide

So did Mia X only sell 1 million records? or did she sell more?

Did Steady Mobbin only sell 500k records combined from their 2 albums or did they sell more?

I'm trying to understand how P is yelling 100 million records sold but, He, Snoop, Mystikal, Silkk, Romeo are the stars. Them 5 would have to had 70% of the sales of NL sales to even get to 70 million records being sold
Anybody can edit wiki. People do it all the time, if it ain't got footnotes to verify, it's likely not true.

That 100 million is likely :duck:

A lot of artists tell them when it comes to sales.

Fred.

30 millions buy RIAA estimate, the whole rappers exaggerate is a bit of a reach going from 30 million to 100?

A rapper or any person would exaggerate that much if they can't stand on it...30 million sold, I can see P saying 50 million or maybe even 70 million , but why would he state 100 million?

When a person can just do as you did and see it tallies up to 20 to 30 million sold on the RIAA site??

If I had 30 million bricks, and pushed 30 million, I'm not going to say I sold 100 million bricks, especially if 30 could be accounted for, I'll say maybe 50, but 100? no...

I have no idea why he decided on 100 mill. Why did Rick Ross claim to know Noriega? Why did Jadakiss claim to have a whale scale for dope? :skip:

I'm just saying there is literally zero proof he moved 100 mill. Even spotting him 10 mill more than what RIAA says, he's still short 70 million units.

As far as "standing on it"....he only has to stand on it if people question him. And nobody is pressing him because #1 nobody cares, it's stuff from 25 years ago and #2 there isn't any way to research those numbers.

The thread is a mess because Master P sold more than his detractors claim, but he also sold far less than his fans claim. 20+ mill is a very respectable number, especially for what was essentially an underground label.

And I'm saying that YOU don't have proof, P who the one is saying that his business yield 100 million sold may have the proof.

Nah, folks care, You yelling out those numbers, 100 million sold, somebody is going to question your cred...Let's not play the whole "nobody cares angle" Brehs on here care enough to make threads about it...People care...but P knows what his empire did.

Folks cared enough to call out Jeezy and his 17.5 statements, they'll call out P and his 100 million sold if it wasn't the case.

If there isn't a way for YOU to research those numbers, then why not P and everybody else claim that they sold 100 millions or x, y, z millions?''

Yes, gold.

Lots of people went gold in the '90s when everybody was selling records.

But he was not a superstar while Pac was alive.

I remember. I was there when "Ice Cream Man" came out.

He had a hit that sold.

But '97 is when No Limit went nuclear and blew the fukk up.
