Someone needs to upload the C Murder BET Cribs.

It was unreal. They followed C Murder to his crib in Metarie,Louisiana suburb and then he somehow kept a residence literally in the hood he came up in.
You mean Straight From The Projects?

Anybody listen to C Murder trapped in Crime from 2000? It had some joints.
Yeah loved that one, NL stans thought the tank was back on track after some subpar releases in 99. Forever TRU, Damned If They Murder Me, Down 4 My Ns, Where Do We Go, Want Beef, Concrete Jungle, Too Much Noise...straight heat

Mr. Marcello and C Murder GTO (Not a No Limit release but still)

It was a Tuff Guy Ent./No Limit/Priority joint release. Had some bangers! The one with Mac and the Ride On Dem Bustas cover were fire

oh i see that youre one of those little white dikkheads.

that explains alot.

also explains you naming yourself "tharealness" in 2020.

f*ckin computer nerds.:mjlol:
:mjlol: That fakkit isn’t from Queens. He’s from Madison, Wisconsin. I drove through there once 2 years ago and they’re on that :mjpls: policy heavy out there. I mean big time.

:mjlol: So I’m not surprised, breh. @ThaRealness probably got a confederate flag in his bedroom next to them Mobb Deep posters.

Literally everybody’s album was hitting up until mid 99 or so. I don’t remember if it was due to BBTP leaving, or them just gradually using outside production.
BBTP put some subpar shyt on Made Man and Bossalinie and Foolish, P prolly wasn't too happy with their work. They were way overworked and undercompensated anyway. Kenoe, XL and Mark In Da Dark had some heat though, the others (Suga Bear, Ezell, Myke Diesel...) were hit-and-miss

I could definitely see them being overworked. I didn’t like Bossaline nor Made Man, never listened to Lil Italy and Lil Soldiers, but I did like Mr. Serv-On’s album. It was such a sudden shift in quality from 98 to 99 and I instantly knew NL’s time was ticking, especially with Cash Money blowing up

I don't know how many albums they were actually selling but the fact that they were dropping so frequently was amazing regardless of the fact.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
No Limit was the first time that we saw the level of consistent FREQUENCY of releases from the era.

East Coast artist like Nas was having 2 and 3 YEAR GAPS between releases at best 1x a year.

No Limit was pumping New Albums not to mention singles very frequently relative to the rest of Rap.

They were doing what we take for granted today in terms of frequent consistent project releases.
I'm not even sure Def Jam had this many releases in a 3 year period.. Not sure of the sales numbers being accurate... But the number of people who were able to drop and the gaps between was like 6 weeks. You was buying that NO LIMIT ALBUM no matter who was on the cover... and they was 8.99 when nikkas shyt was 14.99 and up

bar code.

you think they were the only indie label doing that??? they werent the first or last.

and i dam sure hope you dont think these white-owned corporate labels are playing fair.:mjlol:

Lightning in a bottle. Give people a “movement” they can feel a part of at the right time and magic can happen. P is a very smart dude and likely knew that so he was able to make it feel like a grassroots movement

Being Known as a Soldier was hard to not find attractive as a youngster in the 90’s

:what:

what do you mean by "make it feel like a grassroots movement"??

thats exactly what that chit was. the epitome of grassroots.

we’re saying the exact same thing.

a grass roots movement can be legitimately grassroots yet not feel like one if not done properly.

people say shyt like “industry plant” or “they paid their way in” When something feels inauthentic

No limit FELT grassroots. I get the whole barcode thing people talk about but you felt like you were a part of a movement when you bought one of them pen and pixel CD sleeves.

it isn’t easy to pull off “Grassroots” when you catch traction in a way that seems “sudden”

Them cats were doing hand to hands with CDs for a while before things caught fire

Hence why I said it “felt like”. They caught a feeling.

Not something that’s easy to pull off. Damn sure wasn’t easy in the mid to late 90’s considering the talent pool.

:mindblown:

They never had any hit singles until 98 (and Make Em Say only reached 16)

P had every artist selling 500k minimum. But they had no cash cows :wtf:

Juvenile was with Birdman right?

So they had Silk, Mystikal and a bunch of no names.
Im trying to understand this phenomenon. The bad album covers, the mediocre MCs... how did P flip that into platinum records?
No limit was big bruh, also ran that hustle out of Texas :jawalrus:
