Wasn't 3D a major reason it had such a draw? I'm not sure if it can do it again simply because a lot of people went to see it due to the 3D gimmick.

Mad people fukk with Avatar it's just that the material doesn't lend itself to stannery. The heroes are 9ft tall blue cats with 4 fingers on each hand who speak in a subtitled made up language. Just from a conceptual stage it's a miracle it made 50M let alone 2.8 Billion. Add on top of that the movie is so self contained that the only the thing you could speculate about is "Will the humans comes back?" to which the is answer is obviously yes. Avatar is antithetical to everything that modern fan culture is about. Which is why I'm curious as fukk to see what Cameron is cooking up because it's literally the only thing coming out of the franchise tier of Hollywood where we don't know shyt about shyt going into the sequels.
