not in austin but is there a sohh/hamster og lurking this thread who went by the username of step_one?
Atx breh checking in.
As someone else said, the best life balance is going to be round Rock/cedar park area.
Around campus is a nice area but a lot of young folk. Living south can be dope but traffic to most workplaces are more up north. Traffic can be bad.
I stay by campus but the fam is in round rock. Beyond rush hour I can make it from one to the other in 20 min.
And it's cheaper. I pay 1169 for a 1 bedroom in college, shyts dumb expensive. My families apartment is 1400, twice as big, 2 rooms and 2 bath.
DT is wavy at first, but gets old quickly. Domain is a nice lil spot tho. Less college folk too
I just made a thread about thisI noticed the prices in Austin is ridiculous. If I wanted to continue paying for those high ass rent prices, I minds well stay in Miami but there's so much opportunity in Austin. I can't pass 'em up my question is, for apartments, does the majority of the market require you to go thru apartment associations? I'm still in the middle of my divorce & my credit has taken some major slaps so I know I won't be meeting any associations credit requirement
I just made a thread about this
I was talking about the "might as well" being spelled wrong but yeah a few responses.Got any responses?

As far as apartment searching I'm kinda confused by your question. If you mean do you have to use an apartment locator then the answer is no.
I think im understanding you correctly, you have to go through the leasing office and they will tell you the requirements. Like where im at now I needed to make 2.7 times the rent monthly before taxes in order to rent. They also do a credit check to determine the deposit. Pardon my ignorance if that still isnt what you are looking for. Ive only rented here in Texas and thats what ive went through every time. No, I meant as do you have to go thru the apartment associations. Ya know, they're the ones who tells you the requirements you need to meet before getting into a lease with them. South Florida ain't big on that, majority of the housing is done thru sub-leases or individuals who owns the unit(s) so you don't have to waste time with the association's requirement's demands. Versus ATL, noone does that. You HAVE to go through the apartment's association to get into any lease.
So I'm trying to grasp how Austin is like when it comes to that.
