Austin Aries released from WWE

Austin Aries was released from his WWE contract recently. In what was an unexpected release; Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio possibly has shed some light on the situation. Meltzer stated that WWE is claiming to have released Aries instead of Aries asking to be released himself.

Nonetheless, Aries was apparently thrilled to be let go from the company. Austin Aries had signed a three year deal with the WWE early last year; so if he had quit on his own, WWE would’ve had the rights to hold him so that he would not be able to wrestle until 2019. Meltzer also stated that Aries was upset that him & Neville’s WWE Cruiserweight Championship match from WrestleMania was placed on the kickoff show.

The kickoff show match is not included on the WrestleMania 33 DVD which equals; no royalties for either Neville nor Austin Aries . Also, Aries reportedly had a bad attitude backstage, due to him being upset at the fact that he was “trapped” so to speak; in the Cruiserweight division.

its 3 discs and 2 blu rays and they couldn't put that match on their....its 9 hours of content in them...

This is why everyone hates when they do this shyt on kickoffs, guys here always say nobody cares that much that they're on the kickoff because its still on the network, but then they pull stuff like this and it confirms what everybody is saying lmao

Austin Aries vs Jeff Hardy was the biggest drawing match TNA ever had. Aries clearly had the potential to do much more. In the cruiserweight division now, theres Neville vs his opponent, Dar vs Cedric part 1816171917, and then everyone else just wrestles very safe & soundly. They need to recalibrate what the division is going to be.

Imo, I am glad he did not win the cw title because they would have used that to pigeon hole him sooner and then act as though he never existed. When he voiced a Gen of their video games and is also viewed as the de facto voice of the WWE by their own hiring in such a gateway marketed role.

If I was a double I would have left to.
As Austin should have debuted with the same level that aj did and also much higher on the card that Owens.
As Austin made both tv shows pop that created how the draw of Owens and the mythos of long haired aj came to be as well.
Including the fact that on roster,...
Austin also have the best tv match with long haired aj predating any Japan or bullet club matches.
Where the finish to the hhh/scsa match was actually done better in full execution and on free tv as well.

The WWE continues to not understand that size does not make a draw. As WWE is nuffin more than what it always was. After it simple bullshyt reboot which always leads back to big is all we do.

The reboot this time was just aj being used just like tna did originally and then not knowing what they were doing after aj got the x division title. Till the debut of the continued arrival of Joe and then Joe to angle in tna.
Which eventually lead to flair aj and then the more successful aj the long hair. Yet in all that aj the long hair saga was legitimized matchwise all around from Aries vs aj, in the bfg.
Not to mention Austin is tna's real highest drawing champion aals well.

Imo, it is just wide open for Austin to do what aj did after touring Japan.
then revisit the WWE as an option when he gets hot enough again.
As I am quite sure barring injury,...
Austin Aries will be champion and a promotional top draw in another promotion and make himself a gateway mainstream draw again.

Aries was too slow to be in there with 205. Storylines be damned, he was a bad fit from the jump. Unless they were going to give him the Kendrick push and make him go over all those guys which they were never going to do.
