He's losing power and control over his "slaves" What's losing money to a millionaire, even a jew millionaire. Sterling hasn't cared about money for a long time. But he's always cared about power.

Everyone that's celebrating this is being extremely short-sighted. Adam Silver and the NBA's PR team just salvaged one of the biggest potential meltdowns you'd have likely ever seen in your life. Name another time when athletes will ever be in a position to boycott with public opinion behind them? They had a chance to restructure the entire league and cause some serious debates over race and class in this country, and the Silver/the NBA understood this. It wasn't just about Sterling. The NBA had to distance themselves and keep good standing with the public (hence the "investigation" into what we all knew to be true) and this decision to ban Sterling only make the league out to be the hero... This is only a moral victory for an unsuspecting public. Sterling still owns the team and for $2.5 million dollars, he was just given the opportunity to set the price to his liking which the league will be obliged to pay to maintain their status as the "hero" in this story... None of this would have been possible had the players boycotted and started making their own demands.

that makes more sense but I'm talking about stuff like what kareem wrote which was more reflective of america as a whole than just owners

The bolded are things that I simply did not know back then. In my opinion I dont give a fukk that his convo was taped in private and leaked. It is a bytch thing to do to do that but he said what he said and those kind of views have no place in 2014 and he deserved to be exposed
For real. I'm tired of the "lets penalize folks for not knowing back then!!" crowd. You know now. point is, what do we do going forward...go back to our shells or keep our third eye open?

The NAACP was bought off by the largest subprime lending criminals in Wells Fargo two years ago allowing them to be a sponsor. I was mad no one cared. With their tomfoolery being exposed now with Sterling, I'm happy they know now. Why focus on you not speaking on shyt before?

Exactly. Free speech doesn't equal free of consequence, yet they're clamoring for it in their ignorance of the law.
essentially they just want to be free to get away with being racists.
Sterling could've apologized immediately and everything would've went away maybe a suspension and a fine.
Instead he hasn't said anything.

Yeah, that illegal in a lot of states and it would make the evidence inadmissible in court if it came down to that (if she tried to use it for whatever reason). There is a reason that she is denying that she put out the tapes. But some people are saying that he knew he was being recorded.
So she's in some poo as well. Hopefully she makes sure she's protected cause I heard that some jail time may come.

I think a sit out by the Clippers would of had more historical impact then forcing Sterling to sell. Can you imagine the league having to basically DQ a team for not showing up in a hotly contested playoff series? That shyt would be remembered 10 years from now while next year people will forget this dude ever owned the Clippers.

Good lord the free speech crowd are so fukking dumb.
I feel you.

Two things;

1. It is illegal to be an employer and be racist, ageist, xenophobic, homophobic, etc. Anybody with a job should know this. Every application I've filled out acknowledges that companies cannot discriminate even if you have a felony.

2. As a Criminal Justice Degree holder; free speech doesn't even exist in the way the public "understands" it. It's not a free ride to say whatever, whenever.

I'm listening to sport talk, now, and a caller talmbout; Is it right to penalize someone because they truly believe something? Yea, it is. And it ain't like Donald Sterling needs someone to defend his right to believe black ppl should be separated.

Exhibit AGA-1-Section 2 as to how racism hasn't gone anywhere--people still view it as a defendable right.

I really think ppl need to let this emotional, symbolic argument go.

It's still only been a weekend since this all started. Ya'll puttin' too much pressure--right or wrong--on these guys to have made that big of a decision, that fast. Especially since the team owners should have BEEN done something about Sterling.

:ohlawd:

Damn....the world needed the old show during these times.

That's the whole thing that a lot of whites don't get: blacks who are intensely interested in this Sterling shyt don't really give half a fukk about what this scumbag is saying in private to his extramarital whore. We want to force conversations about the larger implications, the reactions, and the spirit and philosophy that demeans us and relegates us to the scrap heap in this society. And these dumb fukks still don't get that white supremacy and racism are diseases that kill them too. We're living in times where scientists are wearily shouting "we're past the point of no return," resources are becoming more scarce, the poverty gap is widening, and a specific collective ransacked the American economy... Yet these dense, simple fukks are still yelling at their TV about Jay-Z's medallion and violence in Chicago.

All of you are forgetting one thing :bayer:

Mr. Sterling stands to make close to a billion from a sale :evilcac:

Who is losing now :cracker:

He won't be able to buy any more "slaves" though, which is all he really cared about. What's a billion dollars to racist who can't buy what he truly desires?
