I have a little cousin on my african side who is a junior at UCLA, she did her 2 year at West LA college, and now she's at Uni, this little girl is not paying ANY fees, because she's a minority who went to a JC first, she goes full time, and UCLA is only charging her 12k a semester, all covered w/ grants because shes a minority from a low income family, in fact I think they even GIVE her money. Do AAs even know about this? But you know what my african cousin decided to do? join the financial aid dept, and help recruit low income students. we dropped her off in front of Dorsey HighSchool where she passed out fliers to help awareness that UCLA is obtainable for them just like it was for her.

I disagree.

It'd be naive to say African immigrants and African Americans are one in the same however that's how we tend to be viewed in this society regardless. Moreover, cooperation between all groups of black people would be tremendously consequential for Black America. I was born and raised here but my parents are Africans so I still view it somewhat like an outsider, I'll never understand why up until this point Black people continue to be naive enough to believe in a country that was born off of racism and made rich off black misery. Just like slavery set people back on this side of the water, colonization and outside exploitation set people back in Africa. All black people are fukked up and struggling against a worldwide white supremacist system.

I agree that all black people have been fukked but the Africans here that I have talked too simply don't understand because they got to stay on their land and keep their culture. They are fine with studying hard and getting a job but never really having a chance at actual power in this country.

Also they have a much different idea of (racial/ethnic) unity than black americans do.

To be honest: yes, it does work like that in America. African blacks are seen as better, more polite, more intelligent, less of a problem, more productive, than home grown Negroes. African blacks are Mexicans minus the 50 million children stereotype but plus the muslim thing. Whites prefer the company of African blacks to home grown Negroes (that also goes for the company of Island blacks over home grown Negroes). But that's just what I've observed. I may be out of touch on that one.
