No. He wants to experiment with lean now because rappers make it look cool. Stop defending black genocide muric. White Supremacy wants and needs us drugged up, materialistic, hating each other, and overall ignorant.
:why: he already thinks drugs are cool
:why: i'm 99% sure that's the reason he listens to drug rap in the first place
:why: he experiemnts with lean because he likes to be high, not because he heard it in a song

that's like saying i like killing people, but gta showed me running people over, so now i run people over because of gta; i run people over because i want to kill people

Ever hear of Ice T, NWA, Too Short, etc, etc, etc....I swear you guys have created this mythical time period in rap where all rappers of the era hopped and skipped around in the meadows and just rapped about group economics and helping old ladies walk across the street.

This. You'll hear the same lines about the same subject matters in '85, '95 and now. It won't change.

Balance breh. Not all black people are drug addicted, violent, oversexualized, materialistic, super swagged out dope boys. Where's the music from the "normal" black perspective? Where's the music giving young black boys and girls a positive image? Where's the music that puts out positive vibes from the black man?

First of all the "what about the children" angle is cheap and emotional black mail. Its a red herring argument because you just dont like the idea of black men expressing themselves the way THEY see fit. You want control over them. We're talking about adults with adult content, and its not Migos' responsibility to raise millions of black children with his music. Beyond that there's plenty of "balance". Hell, you have Jidenna and Janelle Monae heading an anti-police brutality march today.

The problem I see is for some of you guys is you dont want to see the positive because you're all up in your feelings about young black men doing things you want to be doing but arent: like having sex with bomb ass women, and making bread. You really want the lifestyle of some of these black rappers, and you're tired of them talking about it. This is why you create fake ass "anti-hip hop" arguments".

our problems are way deeper than rap music yet that's the only thing you talk about

Are you aware that brainwashing techniques has been used against us to keep us docile and in check since we stepped off the boat?

Are you aware that AmeriKKKa literally DEPENDS on the materialism and ignorance of the black race? 2 things that modern day hiphop promotes and glorifies HEAVILY?

Are you aware that if the black community came together, unified and supported each other by practicing group economics that America would be turned upside down? White supremists KNOWS THIS and thats why they flood the airwaves that promotes the VERY OPPOSITE of what we need to do as a people

Keep thinking its "just rap music".

Its not. Its a weapon being used for white supremacy gain. You'll understand one day when and if you ever decide to study the past and gain a better understanding of our enemy.

Is that what it revolves around now? The problem with debates about music is that people make blanket statements that categorize an entire genre of music that has millions of artists, subject matters and sounds. I think what you're getting at is that the most popular rap involves these things. There are countless alternatives. But don't put so much blame on the artists, they'll put out what sells and we can't expect that to ever change.

No there really wasnt. You have to understand the culture and history.

Rap started off as an off shoot of disco, and existed almost entirely in New York clubs with lyrics centered on the party scene (and best believe these clubs and artists were coked outta they brains). For the first 7-8 years of its existence there was hardly any "intellectual" rap. to speak of It was all party/neighborhood shyt.

Yes there was a pro-black phase or period (largely in response to how crazy life was for black people during the time period), but that was overshadowed by the more popular party and gangster rap of the day. And to be honest the pro-black stuff was just trendy. Artists like Queen Latifah chucked their Africa medallions in the trash once they weren't popular no more.
