This is why you need a highly developed metro system.
NJ Transit once cancelled service on one of there rail lines because the employees couldn't get to work to run the trains on the route...

So the storm would still cripple the region as even if the trains were able to run fine, the employees would have a tough time getting to work so the service would probably end up getting suspended anyway :manny:

[quote1BadBamaFan, post: 7167594, member: 1566"]You was stuck in that shyt 25 hours? :comeon:

Details breh?

Stuck on 31 for about 5 plus hours got to the top of it and found out the road was closed. Detoured thru 280

to lakeshore and was stucked there for about another 5 hours. Tried to find a hotel nearby but everybody

was booked. Ended up crashing at a church when it's was starting to get late. Decided to try it in the

morning. Took red mountain express to I20-I59 all the way back fine. Mainly since nobody was on road. But

yeah cars still stranded everywhere. Couldn't make it all the way home with my car. Left it parked at a lot

and huffed it about a mile home.

Stay warm brehs :blessed:[/quote]

We joke about a lot of shyt brehs but there's nothing remotely amusing about the elderly, the ill, and children being helpless for countless hours. I'd be freaking the fukk out if any of my close friends or family members with severe illnesses were trapped

You know what at first i thought this was funny but i just saw on CNN they said kids was stuck on the highway in school buses over night NO FOOD ,WATER OR BATHROOMs. shyt is sad, real talk.

but honestly i hope Katrina,Sandy and this ATL snow storm teaches people (blacks and browns am looking at you ) DON'T DEPEND ON THE GOVERNMENT TO HAVE YOUR BACK in anyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy type of situation. With these type of deals ALWAYS PREPARE FOR THE WORSE.

I remember right before sandy i went out and bought two 10 gallons plastic barrels , bunch of flashlights , a box of 100 candles, lighters etc etc, filled both our cars with gas. Everyone i knew laughed at me and said i was tripping it was just a hurricane hitting south jersey and am in north jersey hours away. Sure enough when the power went out. I was the only one with enough candles, battery's, flashlights and drinkable water for days.

For future reference here is what i typically do whenever i hear about any crazy type of weather heading my way ( i prep at least day before)

1. watch the news and be update to as when its going to hit, as rule of thumb i have learned to adjust timing, if they say its going to snow at 7pm expect snow at 5pm etc, if they say its going to snow 4 inches prepare for 8 in etc , but be on top of whats happening, you got expensive as cable and cellphones for a reason other than twitter and instagram

2. Have CASH ON HAND, at least $200 cash , if power goes out = ATM machines/card swippers don't work , if u need to buy goods our shyt out luck

3. if you have cars fill them up with gas, don't go by "i have enough gas" fill them up with gas, all the cars, your car your wife's car, your baby mommas car. You don't want to be stuck on the highway or somewhere else and run out of gas / gas stations have 5 hour lines

4. WATER WATER WATER, you can use water to drink, cook and clean. 3 of the most important things in your life, but u so used to opening a faucet or a bottle. Like i said earlier go to the dollar store/home depot and buy your self a couple 10-20 gallon plastic buckets. Fill them up with water and just leave them there. Also 3-5 cases of bottled water, Obviously the large the family the more you will need.

5. Flashlights, lighters, matches and candles. second most important set of things you can have, if only for that fact that being in the dark is depressing and dangerous. I keep ONE FLASHLIGHT PER ROOM , that's every room, bathroom and basement included. In this same rooms i keep a pack of battery that would fit these flashlights, next up is candles and lighters. Lights go out u light a candle per room. Matches and lighters can also be used to heat stuff up or start up a gas oven

6. EXTRA FOOD, notice i said extra cause am assuming also your a broke college student you live in home where u keep at least 3 days worth of food. This extra food that buy needs to be stuff like canned food that will last well into and after said disaster. Don't buy break, milk or stuff that will spoil unless u planning on eat that stuff first.

*EXTRAS*
- pet food
- baby food
- extra container with gas
- solar,hand powered radio & or flashlight
- jump starter kit for your car, not jumping cables, a actually kit to jump your car
- first aid kit/ extra meds for headaches, stomach aches, fever

One last thing before i end this rant, its crazy to me to see so many people laughing at whats going on in ATL which is a moslty black city, but at the same time dudes on here spend all day making thread talking about "fuk cacs" "we need to do better "how can we better ourselves" but will be the first ones to crack on some people the same color as them in trouble.

You know what white folks do soon as shyt like this goes down? They organize themselves. Food drives, supply drives etc etc ( dont believe peep the white boy on the ATV pic posted in this same thread)

yeah, marta buses are not running at all, trains are running but there are delays, but as far as my neck of the woods (lithonia) , I live on a cul-de-sac on top of a hill with woods behind me, we might as well be in alaska, i don't have to work until sunday, but I might get out of here saturday just cause for a minute

got some ham cut up, eating off that, some steak left, some cereal left, i'll be fine
