I'm not a materialistic person and I don't think capitalism is the best system so forgive me if i don't know what the fukk ways of the west mean, especially considering "the east" isn't some bastion of humanity. You're making massive assumptions about my perceptions on the world, we can have a legitimate conversation or you can keep saying I'm dumb and shallow.

Well for the sake of human advancement lets hope you're wrong. I think the trend of people being less and less religious will continue and religious people will eventually become a minority of our population.

Why should humans advance? We're all going to die anyway. Sounds like you're living in a 'fantasy world' of science fiction instead of reality. As far as people becoming 'less religious', that's not happening. European and American religious populations have remained basically the same for the last 50 years despite all the various and sundry polls people like to pull out. What's happened, however, is that they've become more polarized and the more 'liberal' theists/non-theists are slowly becoming a minority. Meanwhile, in the rest of the civilized world, religion is seeing a surge of adherents not attributable to birth-rates.

Like I said, they've been saying the SAME thing for a couple thousand years and it's not happening. Religion is not some static ideology that resists innovation, and that's why it isn't going anywhere. You're criticising centuries-old beliefs instead of present-day beliefs.​

But we live in a different time, and are privy to a lot more information than those who lived thousands of years ago. Like Sensitive Blake pointed out, we are fortunate to live during a time where, at least in the west, you can say you don't believe in god, and not fear death. Scientific theories that help explain our origins are only a few hundred years old. I think it's obvious that religion is popular because it appeals so much to one's ego... or one's guilt or fear. So maybe religion will never completely go away, but I don't think it will be as prevalent in the future as education and technology increases.
