Atheism is the denial that God exists, but people can believe in God without deism. God can simply be defined as source energy-- energy that creates. Or an organizing structure that is responsible for phenomenon and cause/effect. Some people would argue that God is in us because we're fractals of God in the first place.
My problem with atheism is that it is impossible to be perfectly researched on all of the different interpretations of God as a concept. In a way atheism sounds racist because it's like people are saying that the only ways to interpret God is the deist way-- the way Euro-affiliated Judea Christian religions do. It effectively gives European cultures (or those with proximity to them) a monopoly over the entire concept. I think it's one thing when people say they don't subscribe to Judea Christian interpretations of God, but acknowledge they don't know if God exists. There's no way for us to know if there are other interpretations out there we'd agree with.
This may be true, but I can't actively believe in an interpretation I'm ignorant to. When I refer to myself as an atheist, I do so perfectly willing to accept that there was some creative force that began the universe ... What I reject is the other baggage that typically comes with the God label, i.e. this force being a conscious, thinking entity that listens to prayers and doles out justice or mercy as it sees fit.
My atheism is reactive... a response to claims as I'm made aware of them.
Soon , very soon , sooner than you think
Look up the end time signs , it's almost time
And this is why people laugh at believers. It's sad, really, and goes back to earlier when a poster said believers aren't humble or have a fake sense of humility. People have been saying things like the above for at least a millennia, but the ego of this poster makes him certain it's going to happen within
his lifetime ...
he happens to be living in a special time, and god will return to save him and the people he loves especially. War, disease, famine ... these things aren't unique to this period in history.
