They wanted to build a streaming platform and print money like Netflix. Shyt is harder than it looks I guess.

AT&T: “Wow streaming, that looks cool :ohhh:
..............let’s do it. :lolbron:

AT&T: “On second thought....:whoa::hubie:

Like Paul Mooney said, "Everybody wanna be a Netflix, but don't nobody wanna be a Netflix." :manny:

This deal was all about At&t getting out of debt, the company has been mismanaged by the last CEO by all the dumb deals he was doing. At&t is also receiving pressure from activist investors to be more lean and provided better stockholder returns. I wouldn't be surprised to see At&t continuing to cut debt. At the end of the day we will see 4 major streaming services, so far we have Disney & Netflix at the top, after that is whole of bunch of companies trying to find a niche. I don't think Discovery and Warnermedia alone will put them in the top 4. My guess is NBC will look to make a deal for either Viacom or one of the smaller companies like Starz or lionsgate.

Amazon Prime is also a top streaming service if we are talking subscribers they have more than Disney +.

This is going to flop. Nobody cares about Discovery. They were on the right track. Just keep investing in content for HBO Max, use it to sell phones for AT&T and use both to promote Warner Brothers movies. How hard is that :mindblown:

They gave up after two years, with one being plagued by an unprecedented global shutdown. Why not wait until theaters open back up and for society to get back to normal before making a decision?

HGTV is white ppls favorite channel. Put those shows on Max, you'll get subscribers

Most likely AT&T sell to discovery because they won’t have problems with regulations/regulators

They underestimated how much streaming would cost. The competition is spending 15-20 billion dollars a year on new content. AT&T is in debt by like 200 billion because Direct TV is dying/dwyad technology. They can't spend that kind of money on programming and build out AT&T 5G to compete in that market as well Something had to give. If Direct TV wasn't such a loss for them they could have stayed the course.
