There should be extra fail states to stealth at this point but just a random evasion from a well positioned attack is dumb game design.
It should be based on maybe noise, the position of your shadow, etc.

Yea hopefully that assassination fail is only for enemies above your level. Because if that is just randomized then I don’t understand the purpose

The new games have a skill that you can unlock that turns those high level goon assassinations into a timing based quick time event...
