@Kasino416 Is bulking absolutely necessary to get bigger muscles, or is just steadily increasing your weights good enough while maintaining your current weight and food intake?

From my understanding, bulking is intentionally eating a surplus of calories to gain weight in order to aid your muscle's growth. While doing this supposedly helps the muscles grow larger, I'd imagine it also makes you fatter right?

Now I'm in the process of losing the excess fat I told you about earlier, so thinking about bulking damn near makes me sick. Why would I want to lose all this weight just to gain a decent portion of it back to get bigger?

So in short, is bulking necessary for that Adrian Peterson look I mentioned before, or can I maintain my weight once the fat is gone and still see gains as I increase the difficulty of my lifts?

Growth implies a need for more fuel beyond what your body normally needs. You just have to be smart on the intake and not go crazy.

So for example, instead of taking in 500 extra cals per day, take in about 150-200 cals per day?

Its a lot of trial and error to see what works best for your body. With gains and losses slow and steady is usually better.

My advice (not an expert, just going of a little personal experience and research) would be to start in that 150-200 range and see how it goes. Additionally make sure your protein intake is solid level which of course helps.

See what the scale and mirror says. .5-1.0 gains a week roughly is likely the correct rate.

What would be the ideal weight for someone my size?

I'm 5'6.

I used to weigh about 160 or a little over that. Since I've started counting calories, I've dropped to about 155 or 156... not sure, my scale seems to be fukked up and it goes from 155 to 160 even if I step on it again immediately after stepping off... but I'm sure I'ev lost the weight since my stomach is noticeably smaller than it used to be.

Anyway, my question is, what is the ideal weight I should attain for

I do cardio and weight lifting...

150-155 LEAN id say, but i believe in lifting for physique(proportion more or less)

Meh, its subjective. Im 6'0-6'1 @ 190, so 5'8, I would say you should top out at 175 max.

what do you think of the Insanity Workout?

throw it in the bushes. Go to a real gym, the motivation of people working out around you (especially the women), will motivate you even more to do your thang. I tried P90x a few yrs ago b4 I started lifting seriously and I just could get into it, not to mention the distractions around you being in your house. I say dedicate an hour a day as "me" time, and just lock everything off and hit the gym. I dont even bring my cell phone with me on the floor now, I only use my Ipod - no distractions.

I've honestly realized that bulking isnt necessary. If you keep lifting heavy, banging out 8 reps min of each set, youll build muscle. What you should do is increase your protein intake, youll definately notice more gains. I also feel staying lean emphasizes your size. Again, if you take a look at my cut pic, I was eating clean 2500 cals per day, and look way bigger at 190 than i did at 205. That should show you bulking isnt necessary, rather eating a clean high protein diet, lifting moderate/heavy and being consistent (lifting 4-5 days per week min)

Seems like some are throwing shade at fam and I don't understand it. He apologized for his initial approach, he showed and proved his quads, and he's just trying to help. Whatcha want from the kid? Reminds me of Krack but Krack got good hair, wet or dry.

Edit...fam does have good hair.

Can't we all just get along?

That's what has me like :dahell: reading this thread.
You know, for quite some time I've been a little out of touch with 'the streets' now and really haven't fully grasped this whole hater/hating cliché everyone shouts but I think I'm finally seeing firsthand. This has to be what "hatin" is. And don't try to come with that 'just offering my opinion' cop out. A sincere critique or offering of opinion doesn't come laced with insults and put downs. And I mean dude had haters from like the very BEGINNING of the thread too :heh: I am now a believer in those whole "hater" thing.
I have seen the light :blessed:
