Early floyd mayweather is a special thing for me because since the amatuers, were talking 1995 his name was going around as being an invincible dragon (word to art of fighting) i saw every fight during the olympics that i could, we got robbed up and down, that team waas special, nearly everything but i think reid had a great career. Early floyd mayweather was A MONSTER. You could head to head him with any lightweight in history and get a great fight. Power in both hands, reflexes, knockout power, i mean LEGIT knockout power in both hands. A straight right hand you cant see coming. Looking at his old fights against jesus chavez, genaro hernandez, jose luis castillo (yes he won i dont give a fukk) and chico showed you this guy had it all. I thought chico was gonna knock his block off. The sad thing is, Barrera beating Prince led to a clash that never happened, mayweather was willing to meet him at a catch weight if he won that fight if im not mistaken. It would have launched mayweather before the gatti fight.

Speaking of the gatti fight, that along with ricky hatton are mayweathers last great prime performences before he definately started losing a step. The Gatti fight and The Hatton fight are special, angering CACs to the fullest in an arena full of haters, mayweather coming out to another one bites the dust, bein carried like a black gawd :mjcry: it was beautiful. I loved gatti to, but that beating was....i mean i cant even describe it. I had seen Gatti against de la hoya, ward etc, but he got his punches in, no nikka, mayweather beat the shyt out of him. My other fav fight was the judah fight for the black fukkery that took place. Not to mention, Judah stuck mayweather viciously and arguably scored a knockdown. I was legit scared of judah but mayweather adjusted. see thats the thing, its not the speed, or the power or the defense, its the intelligence, the IQ, you cant beat this guy. Dude fought everyone available, im of the position he didint duck anyone, especially not margarito who was honestly no better than carlos baldomir.

His brittle hands got the best of him sadly. and you started seeing him forcing himsef to play it safe, he had to adjust his whole style because of it, which sucked but i still loved it. Mayweather is one of those guys who never fell off, but you have to wonder with him being so good at boxing how hell deal with regular life. I just hope he stays on the right track.

Ill get to the other fighters in a sec i need to make breakfast for my woman and son as i promised :mjcry: i love having my family again.
:wow:excellent post breh, entire thread:wow:

Juan Diaz aka the baby bull, first real look i got at him was when he fought Jose Cotto aka Seth Curry aka Billy Ripkin. I was impressed with his combinations and his ability to stand in the pocket and just throw with endless stamina and he had a solid chin. i also liked the fact that he had a backup plan aka "I need to do something after i get hit in the face". He fought Randy Suico on that ppv i think it was the mosley vargas undercard and i was even more impressed because suico was in that lineup of boom boom bautista and z gorres etc of upcoming filipino or established filipino contendors that top rank was establishing and he just beat the shyt out of him. His loss to Nate Campbell was a little shocking to me but his war with Marquez had me shook.I remember watching that fight with my girl and asking who im gonna pick and shes like "Marquez is a REAL mexican not one of them tejanos so fukk him' she was right. I picked Diaz, i just felt his combinations would be too much for marquez, boy was i fukking wrong, Marquez win over Diaz is underrated and yet another reason why in the end , marquez is better than his brother. That was a war, actually looking at boxrec, that took place on my birthday 7 years ago :wow: i was trying to remember why we were sitting there watching boxing and i remember i just refused to go out because it was must see tv for me. I havent seen Diaz in almost 5 years since his rematch with Marquez but his lack of power and his lack of a solid defense made it so that if you could time those comibinations you could get to him. Hilariously i remember when Julio Diaz, Juan Diaz and David Diaz all held onto the lightweight titles at once. It was like doo wop and tony touch nate and nick holding all the belts at once.

Ill get to the others tommorow im really tired and i gotta be up for work. But Devon Alexander was a guy i never really liked an ill explain why tommorow.

dont forgot the other fighters i quoted breh :salute:

  1. vernon forrest
  2. antonio tarver
  3. lamon brewster

:mjcry: so tragic..chavez was never the same mentally after that fight
Yeah man that was crazy, I'm always scared for fighters I see take a lot to the head, having worked in the brain injury field before I'm usually:patrice:thinking about what kind of shape these dudes will be in later in life, especially those brehs from the 80's.

he over achieved financially..one of the best examples of paying a young fighter too much without them not earning it

You can never over achieve financially breh...that's impossible. You're only ever paid what you're worth or believed to be worth.

Him getting the $1.4 million from Lou Dibella to turn pro was a lot of money to give a street kid, but at the same time, his potential was worth it and that's how he was paid:manny:

He let the Ohio streets take him in and threw away everything he had worked for...he's definitely one of the biggest under achievers in Boxing of the 2000s due to what we thought he could've/should've accomplished with his talent level:wow:

Vernon Forrest. This was a guy i actually watched get beat in the olympics against some russian whom i didint know was kostya tszyu cuz that wasnt his damn name lmao. The matchup seems laughable now, but forrest was like the last guy on planet earth you wanted to fight. See the thing is, guys would go on and on about paul williams, Forrest faught tall, his jab, his cross and his overall vicious personality this guy was all fukking business. You have to understand this guy was PLAGUED by injury to that shoulder. To the point where i remember steward saying he couldnt even pick up his bag properly anymore . His domination over shane mosley i never watched because i was knee deep in the shyt at the time in the war on terror. i didint hear about it until come new coms guy told me mosley took a brutal beating i was suprised but i wasnt because mosley jumped two weight classes and Forrest was clearly a bigger guy, but it also told me mosleys power must not have carried. Also you wanna know something hilarious i remmeber this comms dude

one time were in kahndahar and we had to repaint some stupid building because some general some where wanted some building a new color, so because im air force security forces aka janirotial/infantry/sandbag filler while we were talking about this fight (i had been there for some time at that point he was new) he relays the order while were talking about it. This whiteboy then proceeds to start painting with us (he was a goddamn weirdo) and halfway sniffing fukking pain sayin "I GET HIGH HIGHH HIIIIGH" this NCO walks in (an army one i dont know the rank, he actually wasnt under my command but it dont matter, rank is rank) he says "WTF ARE YOU DOING THERES STYLE P?" YOU, (Says my real last name) YOU SNIFFING PAINT TOO BOY? YOU LISTENING TO I GET HIGH TOO WITH HIM?"

"No sir i am not sir"

"WELL CARRY ON" and he just walks off. It was a clear moment of obvious comedy that ill never forget.

Anyhow, i got back home and i heard he had lost to someone i never heard of named ricardo mayorga. I had no idea who the fukk that was to be honest and i couldnt understand how this guy lost. I didint see the fight and this is 03, no torrents, no youtube. Anyhow, i saw the rematch and he DID NOT look the same. At all, he clearly needed some time off. Mayorga was a trash fighter to me but he was hilarious, i speak spanish so his comments were endlessly entertaining to me. Dude was the epitome of a club fighter who overachived due to just being fukking funny. The nikka lit a ciggarette after the fight or some shyt. Anyhow it hurt me to see forrest like this, when he bounced back i was so happy, his test fight against baldomir was vicious, baldomirs kids were in the car watching their dad get 3-0 bodybagged by this nikka forrest. im like "HE BACK HE BACK". He then fought glorified pauli jr aka sergio mora who i fukking hate to this day and i think hes on the downlow. I STILL DO NOT UNDERSTAND that loss. I dont know and have no explanation for that. His rematch though i remember he beat the breaks off that nikka. "latin snake" gay bruh. Anyhow his death was painful, Forrest was well loved in the boxing world, also there is something you guys need to understand

Forrest, healthy is the ONE GUY along with Wright i could have seen mayweather actually losing to. Unlike de la hoya forrest fought tall and was consistent with that jab, he could keep it in your face and he was taller than mayweather. I legtiimately pick Vernon to beat mayeather prime for prime and im dead serious.

Antonio Tarver. Man fukk this nikka man, for real. im gonna tell yall a story youll never forget.

I came home on leave in 2004, fresh off jones jr beating the breaks off john ruiz he was that nikka. I remember tarver from years ago on the olympic team and i actually saw him at an amatuer tourney years ago and he was a nice guy. But no fukk him. So i brought my ps2 and i had the fight night game and jones jr was on the cover and i tell my step father "no way he loses a second time, the weight was the problem" we both agree and my stepdad is an old school "you never know" type nikka but he was sure as i was. Tarvers war with jones jr was something wrote off and i shouldnt have, the reality is that jones jr's lack of defensive tactics and getting by on pure reflexes were starting to show and get to him, and i didnt see it or just didint wanna see it.

Jones jr comes out, of course YALL MUSTA FORGOT its like 20 people at my mama house, we deep, everyone loved roy, my sister married some fat mexcian thug from vallejo and he had some of his mexican family there, and unlike other fights where there is division (im brazillian but i always pick nikkas, both my parents black one american one south american, so fukk that "latino" shyt, im not latino nikka, im black). EVERYONE was on roy jones dikk no homo. Fight starts, its typicl roy, i dont remember much happening that first round. AND THEN OH shyt. OH shyt. OH shyt. OH shyt.

SILENCE.

I dropped that cross same time roy did. the whole room fell silent. It was...i swear to yall, i didint get over it for a month. Real talk A MONTH. Jones jr was my dude im serious, yall youngsters just dont understand, tarver ruined dreams. it was the worse falloff id ever seen. all i remember saying was "why...why didint he move? he always moves...wtf.."

Tarver in reality was gunning for roy, im not from florida im from the bay i didint realize that he had been living in roys shadow like that. This was like vargas de la hoya cept vargas got a nice beating from de la hoya, this was the villain winning IMO. Tarver fought tall but he had tendencies of inactivity which puzzled me. In the 3rd fight really showed you how much roy was finished, there was a moment late in the fight where i know someone here has to have seen this, tarver is on the ropes HURT, HES HURT, ROY SHOULD HAVE GONE IN AND FINISHED HIM, and roy stood there afraid, i havent and dont wanna see that fight again (although that fight featured the gawd isreal vasquez on the undercard if im not mistaken i could be wrong). Tarver won but it just showed you Tarver caught roy at the right time, he wasnt better than him.

I was so happy when Hopkins beat him since we got to see two shytty scraps between tarver and johnson. But i remember this....that first tarver johnson fight was my first convo ever with my future wife and the woman i love and the mother of my child, 11 years ago. Now we only been together 7 out of 11 mostly cuz of my drug issue later, but i remember that fight holding a special place because of it. Its also the night mayweather went off on gatti on split screen, it was hilarious, mayweather said some shyt like "they bring up my issues, my arressts and all that, but you dont bring up gattis DUIs do you? DO YOU!" im paraphrasing but that fight was a week later.

Alot of why i bring up these anecdotal things is so you guys know i really did watch these fights, alot of nikkas on the internet lie their asses off and just boxrec or youtube someone, but i love the sport so much. I watched all i could and i got a great memory for it.

Oh yea, fukk tarver once again.

Lamon Brewster aka CAC destroyer. I saw that fight against Wlad and i laughed my fukkin ass off. Thing is, brewster was so limited, im not gonna lie its been so long since i got a good look at him i legit only remember him beating wlad and then taking a SEVERE beating from this russian who really impressed men Sergei Liahovich i think his name is. I dont know why i really liked that white boys style, the way he beat brewster really impressed me, i then remember he rematched Wlad and Wlad beat the shyt out of him but by then he was him full wlad mode aka JAB N HOLD so brewster who i remember just being very sloppy and throwing wild haymakers lost. I still to this day have a fight on my drive thats not in english where he fought this german cat and really put a good beating on him, it was a solid win, i dont remember much though. brewster just was at a time i didint enjoy heavyweight boxing, but he had power so fukk it i would check it if i could.
