That isn't going to get you anything worthwhile

Those Camry door speakers would the first thing you would upgrade right? But I see a lot of people recommend the rears for the bass, and have good front speak/tweeter combos for the lows.

$500 should be able to do something.

Rule of thumb is to start from the front and move your way back

In those cars, you cannot replace the stock headunit as everything is pretty much tied into it..This means you need a processor to get your signal to the amps along with a couple other neat features.

The cheapest good one is $247(Precision Power DSP-88r)

Now you just blew half your budget and we haven't even discussed speakers yet.

Looks like a $1,000 can't get you much these days.

Right now everything is stock in the truck, but back in '07 I had the Eclipse subwoofers, alpine type r interiors, xplod amp, JVC head unit all for under $1,000.

At one point I considering some w7, but $1,500 for some subs was tough. But then I felt loud music was too gaudy and I'm doing the low key thing now.

You can only do a lot on a small budget if you install everything yourself, & buy used.

Speakers and subs can be had cheap. It's really everything else that gets a lil pricey.

Yep, Pawn Shops have some good stuff.

Some online audio sites still have Cyber Monday deals going on today, I seen some at Car Audio Stereo - Car Subwoofers - Car Amplifiers and Speakers (sonicelectronix)

I was getting free installs at Circuit City w/purchase, so I never paid for installation. Best Buy would charge for installation, so I never purchased anything from them.

If you want, you can start out with some cheap subs and go from there down the line.

Scroll a couple pages back..I speak about Infinite baffle set ups..real cheap way of getting bass in the car.

Yeah, I read the thread, you have some really good recommendations.

Back in '07, Kickers subs, Alpine Type S subs, and Pioneer subs were the most popular. I had bought some Rockford Punch subs, but switched them out for Eclipse subs cause they sounded better. I think I eventually got a Kicker amp for the interiors and used the Xplod amp for the subs (they gave Xplod for free at Circuit City with $299 or more purchase).

Alpine Type R, MTX 9500 and the JL W7 were considered the best subs. On a budget Kickers and Pioneers is what a lot of people bought.

I would go with Eclipse again, but I'm not into car audio anymore. I rarely listen to music in the car, I would do Podcasts or YouTube info/commentary channels.

Is Orion HCCA's still the go to for enthusiast grade subs?

Back in 2007-2008 I had an Eclipse AVN6620, left the mid's and high's stock with two 12" Kicker L7's in a custom built box to specs and professionally tuned running off a Kicker 1500.1 Mono Amp. Had 0 gauge wiring from kicker as well...I was young and dumb. hahaha

They're still decent, but so much better is out there now.
