Do you blame your parents for not getting your eating under control and letting you get to this point?

Im sure you didnt just gain hundreds of pounds after 18 so your parents should have noticed something wasnt right with your eating habits.

Earlier in the thread you said you were skinny as a kid but by 7 or 8 you started changing. Did your parents not notice you gaining weight too fast and getting closer to obese territory?

Youre lucky that youre tall though. If you were like 6'2 or shorter your situation wouldve been way worse. At least the weight is better distributed.

Do you think your lack of motivation to lose the weight is due to knowing that even if you got below 300 lbs your body will have excess rolls of loose skin? Im not trying to sound mean or anything but having seen photos of formerly obese people, I know that they still struggle with that problem.

Good luck on your weight loss man.

I've truly never thought about it. My parents aren't really in my life like that. I guess I could/should, but at this point I don't blame anyone but myself. I've been 18+ for years, no excuse for not having lost it by now.

As far as the change when I was younger, again, parents weren't in my life like that. I don't remember it being a concern. That's the way shyt goes though. :yeshrug:

Hrmm, I know the loose skin will be a struggle but surgery is the main solution for that. There are some issues about recovering. Like, realizing I'll probably never have a certain body, no matter what happens. Or knowing how long it will take to get to a certain spot. Just have to focus on today and the future though. Easier said than done.

Good questions. Cheers.

Have you ever thought about gastric bypass? My uncle had it and he lost mad weight within a month. He lost a lot of weight before the surgery because they put him on strictly protein shakes. I will say that after the surgery he had a hard time eating for a while. Good luck with your process.

Have you consider a vegetarian lifestyle, not all the starch but fresh produce, minimal cooked foods, no sugar, salt?

Drink half your body weight in ounces to flush your system and build healthy cells. Most overweight people are just toxic and deprived of real nutrients, that is why the body holds on to it bc the food that you are is basically tasty genetically modified stuff that starves you and breaks down the body. May be one of the reasons why you are lazy, bc you have no energy. Sounds like you grew up poor or in the South. Being obese is ok and even lauded there and they pass on shyt eating behaviors to their children. If you eat right, do moderate exercise you will be trim in no time. Dudes in Africa and the Caribbean dont work out in a gym and they have goat bodies.

I've never given it a lot of thought. If I hit 35+ and haven't lost the weight I might switch. I see dudes like Al Roker and Big Boy, they look like the crypt keeper after that bypass, so I'm trying to do it using weights and diet while I'm young.

I considered it, and becoming vegan, for awhile (back when I was losing rapidly) but decided the diet lacked a lot of key nutrients.

Was reading "How to Eat to Live" by Elijah Muhammad, was doing Ramajan, all of that. It was mainly about building discipline, was never too serious about that lifestyle.

The real problem is mental discipline on my part.

Props to you family.

- Don't get too caught up in the actual pounds, concentrate on health and take your time.
- Concentrate more on adding to your diet than restricting.
- More to the point of addition rather than subtraction...trying to do the opposite will inevitable cause stress. People (who never had a weight problem) wont tell you this but STRESS will make/keep you fat.

You spend more time adding fresh fruits rather than trying to force yourself to stop eating this or that and your brain will be more accepting of change and actually begin to feel awarded. The not so good shyt will begin to phase themselves out if you concentrating on eating MORE good things.

You don't have to have loose skin, that's more of a product of having the weight come off too fast and dehydration which is why I said don't concentrate on the pounds. Concentrate on Eliminating toxins (You're inflamed/toxic at the cell level) and building muscle underneath that fat so that it has something to hang on when the weight comes off.

People who concentrate on LOSING weight (psychologically, you want to "release" the weight, not "lose" it, because then you might "find" again, language is important) do just that...muscle mass included.

John Gabriel, peep his books/audio books.

He talks a lot about stress control and the psychological reasons why you hold on to weight due to the nervous system not really knowing the difference between everyday stress and the stress of an oncoming famine.

Best of luck, bruh. You are brave to come on here and let these clowns goof on you, but as someone who's also made some health changes (and lost 30lbs since the beginning of the year, about 1lb per week, slowly, steadily), I salute you for trying. At your weight, I would definitely go for the bypass surgery. You are a prime candidate and it would get your weight right off and make you change your eating habits. Check that thread with Magic Johnson's daughter... That fool actually looks halfway decent. You got the height, so that's a big plus. Good luck...

Yea. Again, if I don't lose it soon, I'll start looking into it. It doesn't change the habits though.
