One time they were talking about things they watched. My wife was on a Korean Drama wave at the time, and here this dumb ass hick cac go, "it sounds like they're making up what they are saying. That's not even a language".

Look up some authentic Chinese dishes. Difference in pallets, comfortability with textures and whatnot.

Most aren't eating or trying Peking duck, tofu, chicken feet, milking fish soup, etc

You can definitely find authentic Chinese restaurants in the us selling it but we're used to westernized Chinese food

In hip hop terms they sell the diluted, mass appeal version of the real because thats what most expect and can digest. Heads know the true which is why they do what they do.

You could say the same of any underground vs mainstream thing you pick because its always the same flex as those that know from the depths have the palette and will to seek out the authentic whereas the rest prefer what they've been fed by corpratized interests and is easily available plus almost standard in its traits.

But I also love Dim Sum and some traditional Chinese foods.

What I notice is that in wealthier suburbs and exurbs the Chinese restaurants do offer additional “fresh” items they don’t offer in the hood. So while she is right she also knows they limit supply of certain high cost ingredients mainly due to the fact that no one really orders them.
