if you have kids then airbnb/vrbo is much better IMO. you get actual privacy. a full kitchen so you dont have to eat out all the time, and most likely much more space for similar or even less money. if you have a car you avoid parking fees, which in some major cities can run you $40/50 dollars a night. you may be able to be closer to your eventual destination. maybe you don't want to be in a part of town surrounded by other hotels/downtown etc.

there are endless reasons why people use these services.

I agree about it being crazy that you can stay in someone's home fo a night but Airbnb is international. A lot of people around just want a cheap place to stay when they are traveling.

Yeah lol everyone saying Airbnb is only for broke people never rented an entire Loft with daily maid service, jacuzzis, pool, billiards, washer/dryer etc, etc. Just like with hotels you get what you pay for.
