You are missing the point.

The reason these games are maxing out your hardware is because they are not being developed specifically for PC in mind.

You are playing console games at a higher resolution and frame rate.

The only way to truly take advantage of something like a 4080 would be for a large, talented developer to develop an EXCLUSIVE PC game that costs hundreds of millions to develop.

Thats what they do for console games. Thats why TLOU 2 looked better than any PC game on hardware that was 100x weaker.

yeah, his argument made more sense around the end of the PS360 generation. things have changed since both consoles moved to x86, and especially this gen with the consoles having a decent CPU and GPU, plus SSD's

From a technical perspective, Naughty Dog’s engine used for Part I was optimized for PS5. Moving it to PC meant a large amount of tuning, tweaking, and even re-thinking, especially when it came to how we utilized the GPU. We made careful decisions on how to adapt the overall experience for the PC.

There you go for you nikkas. This is how it works for 95% of games on the market. They are optimized first for consoles, then moved to PC. They do this because they have to keep the lowest common denominator in mind.

For cross gen games that is a PS4/Xbox One.

For current gen games. That is a Series X/PS5.

The games you are playing on PC are just console games that run better on PC. They are not fully utilizing PC hardware unless they are made exclusively with PC hardware in mind. Completely ignoring consoles. Which is rarely ever the case in the AAA space.... Since Crysis.

The deal hasn't even closed yet and that blowback from Sony being hyper aggressive towards MS that people mentioned would happen is already seemingly starting to take place.

But instead of just affecting gaming it's Sony as a whole that now has eyes on them.

This is troublesome for them in many ways going forward. Instead of being able to seamlessly adapt with the changing industry now when purchasing they have to be a bit more careful. Especially in foreign markets.
