Both came out and were the biggest stars in the world and dropped classics

Dont have great body of work

haven't been relevant musically in 7 -10 years

But will always be talked about and respected because of their immediate impact

Pretty much same with jodeci

ehh. longevity isn't jodeci's problem. they dropped 3 joints and had a 5 year run. its pretty typical. nothing wrong with it. their problem is they don't have a certified classic.

Basically tracks 1-5 on the first album are etched in R&B history. Absolutely undeniable songs. Classics in every sense.

Same can be said for track 1-4 on the 2nd album. And then #6("Alone", wasn't a hit but dope nonetheless).

After that point, BOTH albums fall off hard. And to me, that's why the albums aren't complete classics.

I'm going to quote myself on this b/c this is the truth, and y'all know it. If you're from the cassette tape era, you knew there was no reason to listen to side 2 of Jodeci albums.

Kci & Jojo the duet has classic albums and equally great singles.

I remember a lot of people thought 50 was wack back then. his run wasn't like snoop's or even a DMX.

a top album of the 2000s? maybe but that's not anything to brag about. 2000s was saved by the mixtapes. 50 does have some classic mixtapes tho. he lost me with GRODT. it was a good album, but it didn't live up to the hype and I knew he was on borrowed time.

we can just keep it about male groups right now. no need to turn this into a slaughter and bring in the whole r&b scene.

h-town, silk & shai all debuted with better albums in '93. then jodeci, the so-called champs dropped a weaker album at the end of the year.

I didn't hear tony toni & mint condition's full albums that year, but they were prolly better too.
