"As far as hip-hop is concerned, it's become so generic at this point....

I heard some of Nipsey Hussle's album, the songs I heard was cool.

That's about it
I don't go outta my way to check for music by artist who's songs I've heard enough of to know I don't like and in this era, it's a lot of them.

What's considered underground these days ain't underground to me cause it's online and nothing online is underground
You know what I mean?
Like how can something really be "underground" when it's online
Tho, I know what u mean and get what u saying
And a lot of the new "good" new shyt I hear, is just like either aight or decent when compared to the shyt that it was inspired from
In that case, I'd rather just listen to the original shyt that inspired the new "good" music that I grew up listening too

He’s like 30% right but hip -hop is the most diverse genre challenges range y can bump a a song that sounds totally nothing like another men’s song.

Also everything that’s “ popular” or “mainstream” have similar elements but there’s also details within the music I’m sure he’s oblivious too

I don't consider anything underground anymore really
Cause the way of getting and learning about music is online and the internet in itself is mainstream cause everybody uses it
Everything is by way of streaming and the internet is the way everybody gets music
The underground use to be consider what got overlooked by the masses and didn't generate a lot of attention like mainstream music; that only a small group of people checked for and listened too
But now with internet being the source and everybody knowing how to use the source, there really isn't an underground anymore

Hip Hop is in a pretty bad state right now. It’s funny I just mentally checked myself into Larry Holmes Garden :flabbynsick: after hearing Blocboy JB and log on to see this thread. It all sounds the same. Poorly mixed 808 hihat, snare/clap and distorted/saturated bass. It’s way too uninspired.

Edit: and I don’t even have a problem with “trap music” earlier trap music didn’t sound like one whole big perpetual song.
welcome my brethren :blessed::flabbynsick:
