As a whole, the NBA has lost around 45% of its viewership since 2012.

There hasn't been any mainstream star since Steph.

People talk about how the regular season was devalued but postseason ratings have been down as well.

It's not "superteams" because the league historical has done it's best ratings when there's been 1 or 2 teams killing the competition (90's Bulls, Laker 3-Peat, Cavs/Warriors)

Casual fans dont care about play styles, but they know names. They don't really tune in to see "teams" play, but if they heard Jordan, LeBron, Kobe/Shaq, Curry was on TV they know those names so they become more inclined to tune in.

Jokic, Luka, Tatum, Giannis, etc.....all these guys are great but they haven't transcended into pop culture like the aforementioned guys I named.

Nobody really likes this 3 point shooting no defense brand of ball being played now a days. Also while players are definitely overall more athletic now a days they are not as complete of players skillset wise as players back in the day. Players back then knew how to play in the post, they had a mid range, they knew how to play real man defense. People need to stop denying the problem that's right in there face.

“Real man defense” :mjlol:

U don’t know shyt about defense dude tired of people acting like it’s a fukking lay up like out there and players are statues

Teams of the past would be cooked by todays offenses :mjlol:

I said it back during the finals

The players just aren't interesting to watch anymore and teams chucking 3 is BORING and can quickly lead to quick blowouts :francis:

They HAVE to get either Ant or Ja in the finals next year as stylistically they're the only two who can bring in the casual viewer and older viewers who have stopped watching.

They need to start marketing Brunson as a superstar too.

The NBA really needed the finals this year to be Ant vs Tatum to 1. set up the next big rivalry 2. Build up Ant even more 3. Setup a revenge storyline.

STYLISTICALLY Outside of Ant, Ja, Kyrie, Steph, KD and Brunson the product is just UGLY to watch :scust:

What’s with the defense shyt? Lol.

Are y’all suggesting that players are standing idly on the court and letting offensive players do whatever they want?

I watch Knicks games regularly I don’t see that. It’s been a regurgitated talking point going on close to 20 years.

Basketball is a free flowing up and down game throughout its history it’s been high scoring much longer than it’s been low scoring. Its golden era that blew the league up the 80’s was high scoring.
There’s no more rim protection. It’s a layup line at the rim

There’s really not many defenders in the nba.

It’s never been easier to score

TYRONE GA!
Too many games in a hyper short attention span era. Reduce the games to 50 and the rest of this shyt sorts itself out. Including the 3pt shooting. Every game meaning more= more defense being played. It also takes away load mgmt
Players and owners aren't giving up that money for less games tho so less games aren't happening.

Do think it would cut down on this load mgmt nonsense but oh well. Wish we could move the three point arch back and kill the corner/sideline 3 tho

The paint is more open because of shooting especially at the big man positions which drags bigs out the paint.

I was watching Bucks Bulls on ESPN. Lopez and Vucevic were shooting threes from deep. Both them dudes came into the league as post up bigs. :heh:

My team has the best shooting big man KAT that’s shooting 50% from 3 on over 5 attempts.

I’m a Knicks fan you’re telling me Mikal Bridges, Anunoby, Deuce McBride, Mitch Robinson, Precious don’t play defense. :mjlol:

Brunson is small but even he puts efforts and be among the league leaders in charges :heh:

Bruh you don’t have a team you’re a casual who doesn’t have the attention span to watch games

There are defenders in the league excellent ones at that you don’t give a fukk about facts. Go look at what Dyson Daniels is doing (this nikka been getting 6-7 steals like it’s nothing). Watch Tari Eason, the Thompson twins, Jalen Suggs. Watch an OKC game or Orlando.

Old defenses would get waxed today especially old teams that were used to guarding double big line ups and had non-shooters in the line ups they faced.

Late 30s Bron is better scorer now than 15 years ago but it’s not easier to score now. FOH

Why? This wouldn’t do anything. It would make the game worse. Players are already good at deep threes. Why kill the sideline three that would kill spacing and make the game awkward and clunky. It would lead to more above the break threes and everything at the middle of the floor.

Even if they did this it wouldn’t increase ratings. Its an accessibility issue with streaming, it’s young stars dropping the ball or being stuck on small market bad teams, it’s an injuries issue because the game is more demanding of the body than ever that’s what’s leading to load management. It’s a generational issue with tech and options people have less attention span than ever.

No he’s not.

This the least points he’s averaged since rookie year. Bron nowadays needs to pick his spots and be opportunistic in his scoring. He’s a better three point shooter than he’s ever been now that’s all.

Way more corner thrrees than arc threes. I think they should try.

Also stop calling flagrant fouls Everytime someone gets falls hard to the floor. shyt is goofy. Let bigs challenge dunks and layups.
And bugs stop acting like hoes cause you don't wanna be clowned on social media for getting dunked on. :rudy:

I don't disagree with this. ADD generation. But why are NFL ratings still crazy?

I do think those will start dropping as the league keeps pushing games from broadcast to streaming. Goodell Betta be careful
